Un projet de recherche mené par le gouvernement australien, les institutions financières et les universités constitue une étape importante pour le pays dans la détermination du potentiel d'une monnaie numérique de banque centrale (CBDC), selon un avocat basé à Sydney spécialisé en droit numérique.
« Cela a été une étape vraiment importante pour voir ce qu'une CBDC peut faire », a déclaré Michael Bacina, associé du cabinet d'avocats Piper Alderman, sur « First Mover » de CoinDesk TV jeudi.

Le projet de recherche, lequel a commencé ce mois-ci, implique la Banque de réserve d'Australie et le Centre de recherche coopérative sur la Finance numérique (DFCRC), composé de 25 institutions de premier plan. L'objectif du projet est d'explorer l'impact économique des cas d'utilisation d'une CBDC dans le pays et la manière dont les actifs numériques tels que le Bitcoin devraient être réglementés.
« Nous avons maintenant des banques qui se montrent incroyablement optimistes quant à la décentralisation », a déclaré Bacina.

Bacina a souligné que les Crypto ne figuraient pas au programme du nouveau gouvernement du Parti travailliste (ALB) du PRIME ministre Anthony Albanese, contrairement à la position pro-cryptomonnaies du précédent gouvernement de Scott Morrison, du Parti libéral. Le gouvernement Albanese est probablement en train de « rattraper son retard », a déclaré Bacina.
La semaine dernière, le gouvernement du pays a déclaré qu’ilcommencer le mappage des jetons le secteur des Crypto actifs dans le but de protéger les utilisateurs.

Étant donné l’importance des ressources naturelles dans l’économie australienne, le pays pourrait très probablement dans un avenir NEAR chercher à « tokeniser et titriser les ressources et les matières premières », a déclaré Bacina.
« À l’heure actuelle, nous étudions les gains d’efficacité et l’automatisation qui découlent de la mise en place de ce type de tokenisation », a déclaré Bacina.

- Altcoins accounted for the majority of trading activity, reinforcing KuCoin’s role as a primary liquidity venue beyond BTC and ETH at a time when majors saw more muted turnover.
- Even as overall crypto volumes softened mid-year, KuCoin maintained elevated baseline activity, indicating structurally higher user engagement rather than short-lived volume spikes.

The latest draft of the major crypto legislation has begun to be targeted with amendments as the Senate Agriculture Committee approaches its hearing next week.

- The committee's markup hearing for the bill is currently scheduled for next week, though a winter storm threatens the U.S. capital.
