Edgecoin (EDGT) is an educational stablecoin that offers an open payment system for educational institutions where individuals can make transactions related to education. Edgecoin can be used for all education-related transactions such as accommodation, enrollment fees, books, etc., through a decentralized application while using the education infrastructure, regulation, and stability of traditional finance process systems. 

According to the whitepaper, the Edgecoin network aims to provide a trusted and secure environment in which to make successful transactions through the use of blockchain technology. This network processes transactions via a smart contract-driven payment system powered by a stellar blockchain. Stellar is a payment technology seeking to link financial institutions and decrease the time and cost needed for cross-border transfers. Luke Arliss founded the Edgecoin network in 2017. Since 2015, he has been active in the cryptocurrency world. Luke is also the CEO and cofounder of LA Asset Management Ltd.

According to the whitepaper, the Edgecoin network claims to have achieved several milestones. In the first quarter of 2020, the platform developed its whitepaper and web application. In the second quarter of 2021, the network created its smart contract and token on the Stellar network. Later in the second quarter of 2021, this network launched the Edgecoin mobile application. The platform released its Liquidity Staking protocol in the third quarter of 2021, while in the last quarter, it focused on developing partnerships with several hedge funds.
