FAQ

Cap is a decentralized trading protocol in the blockchain space. Cap uses cryptocurrency-backed instruments (crypto-synthetics) to track the value of an asset. These instruments help the users of the Cap platform to be aware of an asset and its information without actually having to own the asset. According to the whitepaper, Cap allows trading of any asset, including stocks, bonds, commodities, etc., using cryptocurrency. Cap is built on the Ethereum network and also has components operating within the traditional infrastructure.

As per the whitepaper, the goal of Cap is to provide trading services that are at par with traditional services of the sector. Also, Cap aims to provide trading services that are secure, cheap, fast, transparent, and fully decentralized. Cap seeks to implement transparency in order to create a better user experience for its community members.

CAP is the native token in the Cap network. The CAP token helps to track ownership of the staked assets. Users can obtain CAP tokens by contributing to the liquidity pool of the Cap platform (Cap Liquidity Pool, CLP). Community members can also avail CAP tokens by trading on the Cap platform. The Cap platform supports digital tokens that are backed by physical assets. Holders who own more than ten CAP tokens can participate in the voting activities on protocol proposals. Such voting proposals include risk aversion, interest rate, etc.

Traders and CAP holders are the two shareholders on the Cap platform. CAP holders contribute to the liquidity of the platform, while traders place trades through Cap. Traders have to deposit any digital supported currency to initiate services of the Cap platform. These deposits are introduced into the Hot Pool, which in turn makes the funds for the CLP.

The whitepaper of CAP was released in June 2020. The total supply of CAP tokens is fixed at ten million.
