FAQ

Canada eCoin (CDN) is a decentralized information and payment network that uses peer-to-peer technology. This open-source software seeks to function as a personal reserve and allows the user to take control of their data. The network features a public blockchain anda transparent ledger and seeks to facilitate information sharing, transacting, and mining. The Canada eCoin is represented by CDN.

According to the Canada eCoin blockchain, the platform caters to three users, namely, individuals, businesses, and developers. For individual users, the platform aims to allow transaction facilities with anybody in the globe at any time. Further, the platform intends to provide quick transaction confirmation without international charges. Users may take control of funds through their wallets and store backups of their private keys without entrusting them to third parties.

Further, Canada eCoin aims to enable businesses to take payments from anywhere, at any time. The mathematically validated transactions are also irreversible. These advantages enable businesses to open up to a global market of crypto-enabled users that seeks to onboard more local communities. Importantly, the platform aims to offer multi-signature wallets for enterprise users. This wallet enables funds to be spent only upon a consensus present. For instance, the platform authorizes spending only after obtaining y of x signatures. The administration members, as signatories, authorize the fund disbursement. Furthermore, the scalability of the software enables it to handle thousands of customers a day.

The platform seeks to provide access to the source code for developers to review, audit, or contribute. Developers are able to create products or services to work in the Canada eCoin blockchain.

The Canada eCoin platform lists various desktop wallets such as Windows, macOS, Android, Linux, and paper wallets. In a desktop wallet, the software is installed on a computer’s hard drive. When a computer is linked to the internet, users may open it and transmit cryptocurrency. Contrarily, a paper wallet is a physical cryptocurrency wallet that is typically composed of paper. The private keys are printed or saved in QR code format and subsequently printed on paper in the paper wallet. The wallets are then safely kept in a fireproof and waterproof pod.

Canada eCoin is powered by eCoinCore. Canada eCoin, the open-source project, was taken over by a community team in 2016 after being abandoned by the original team. Jason “KOAD” Zvaniga is the lead developer and community leader of Canada eCoin. Since 2017, the community has been establishing its infrastructure and roadmap and defining the scope of work.

The CDN token reports a maximum total supply of 100 million CDN.

Through mining, users of Canada eCoin generate CDN coins. It is a proof-of-work (PoW) blockchain and uses Scrypt as its hashing algorithm along with an auxiliary PoW (AuXPoW) compatibility. In an auxiliary PoW, work on one blockchain can be authorized as valid work on another chain. Thereby, the miner can use the computational power to mine on multiple chains simultaneously.

The platform enables mining through CPU and GPU (video card) but recommends through an ASIC mining rig. While GPU and CPU mining rigs include components that serve several functions, ASIC miners are developed specifically for cryptocurrency mining. The hardware for CPU and GPU is substantially less expensive and power-consuming than that necessary for ASIC mining. However, because GPUs have other gaming and computer display uses, they are far less efficient at mining than ASIC miners.
