Instead, transactions are verified by those who have staked their funds in the blockchain. In the long run, the network's security of cryptocurrency aims to be independent of energy usage. Thus, the cryptocurrency seeks to be a more energy-efficient and cost-competitive peer-to-peer crypto-currency.
