In August 2024, a backup of the Luckycoin blockchain from 2013 was found, leading to the revival of the chain starting from block 81,743. This revival aims to preserve as much of Luckycoin's history as possible within the currently active mined chain.

As one of the earliest cryptocurrencies created, Luckycoin, following its revival in 2024, has become one of the oldest actively mined cryptocurrencies still in existence. It could also be regarded as the oldest active ‘memecoin' at the time of writing. Although the term “memecoin” was not widely recognized back in May 2013, Luckycoin was characterized by LuckyC as “Fast, Fun & Fair,” with a lighthearted introduction on the Bitcoin Talk forums.

Luckycoin served as the foundation for Dogecoin, which was created by Billy Markus. He spent just two hours developing Dogecoin from Luckycoin, primarily changing the font to Comic Sans.
