Rabby is an EVM wallet with transaction previews, portfolio tracking and a 0.25% standard swap fee. It supports hardware connections but not native Bitcoin or Solana accounts.
Rabby Wallet vs MetaMask: Which EVM Wallet Fits You?
Choosing between Rabby and MetaMask comes down to how you use your wallet. Rabby pairs lower in-wallet swap fees with EVM-focused tools. MetaMask brings Bitcoin and Solana alongside EVM accounts. Here’s how their fees, signing controls and recovery options compare.
MetaMask combines EVM dApp access with native Bitcoin, Solana and TRON accounts. It offers hardware connections and optional linked-login recovery, with a 0.875% wallet swap fee.

Winners By Category
Rabby leads on the wallet swap fee. MetaMask leads on native-chain coverage. Shared EVM access is a tie. The other results below distinguish comparable features from areas without enough evidence to name a winner.
Both support owner-controlled software accounts and separate hardware signers. Optional online backups do not change where ordinary transactions are signed.
Both preview supported requests and issue warnings. Different audit scopes and historical incidents do not establish better current scam detection.
Rabby's mobile cloud file and MetaMask's linked-login recovery require different credentials and services. Both retain owner-held phrase alternatives.
Both support EVM dApps and custom networks. Integrated features and custom-network limitations differ by app.
Rabby offers native desktop clients. MetaMask supports Firefox. Mobile signer lists differ, making the intended app and hardware connection decisive.
For frequent in-wallet EVM swaps, Rabby's standard wallet fee is lower. Final received amounts still depend on routes, liquidity and gas.
Both expose information through network and optional services. Policy wording and available switches do not measure comparative data collection.
Both publish client development records. Component licenses and backups affect migration, but neither establishes a longer future support life.
MetaMask covers more native networks. This is an asset-coverage advantage, not evidence of better EVM signing or security.
A fee advantage is not a staking or safety win. These category results describe specific uses, rather than votes toward the overall review score.
Custody And Key Control
Phrase-created accounts in either app hold signing credentials in software. Connected hardware accounts instead keep private keys on the separate signer. Check the account type protecting each balance.
Both provide owner-controlled software accounts and hardware-account connections for EVM use. Choose the account's signing method deliberately, because an optional cloud backup is not a hardware signer.
Local Accounts And Online Backups
Rabby creates a 12-word phrase or imports existing phrases and private keys. Its local password protects that installation, with optional biometric access on mobile. MetaMask also offers phrase-based creation and private-key imports. Neither local password makes a copied recovery phrase unusable elsewhere.
Optional online backup is separate from base signing. Rabby Mobile can put a password-encrypted backup file in your iCloud or Google Drive storage. MetaMask social-login accounts store an encrypted phrase on its backend. The phrase is decrypted on the client after the required authentication, not held as plaintext fragments by the login provider.
Hardware Accounts And Portability
Hardware accounts retain their own backups. Importing a hardware phrase into an app exposes that secret to software and is not hardware pairing.
An EVM address can appear in both interfaces without an onchain transfer if both use the same key. Compromising that key compromises the address in both apps. Separate phrases are needed when the purpose is to separate funds and credentials.
Security And Transaction Signing
Both preview supported requests and issue warnings. Different audit scopes and historical incidents do not establish better current scam detection.
For EVM signing, both provide warnings and support separate hardware approval. Their differently scoped audits and incidents do not establish which current app catches more malicious requests, so neither earns a general safety claim.
Rabby's signing screen describes expected token changes and flags risks such as unfamiliar contracts, suspicious tokens and problematic approvals. MetaMask also estimates balance changes and supplies security alerts. Neither preview promises that execution will match the estimate or that an unflagged request is harmless.
Signing And Approval Controls
Rabby can disable its Sign button after a warning, but Ignore All lets the user proceed. Its EVM transaction and approval controls distinguish disconnecting a dApp from revoking token-spending permission. Revocation requires an onchain transaction. Its optional extension whitelist password check is local and can be bypassed using the seed in another app.
On both MetaMask clients, security alerts start enabled. Supported EVM requests go to MetaMask servers for analysis, while supported non-EVM requests go to Blockaid. Users can override a warning. Rabby's simulation guide describes its output and warnings but does not identify the processing location.
Code, Audits, And Historical Incidents
Least Authority's September 2, 2025 Rabby reports cover separate extension and mobile changes. At the audited revisions, medium-severity findings involving extension QR-sync eavesdropping and mobile password-key derivation remained unresolved. Both require access to encrypted material and successful password cracking. These report-date findings do not diagnose today's store builds.
MetaMask components have also been independently assessed. Least Authority's September 2023 audit covered Snaps integration with the extension, not every current client or third-party Snap. Counting reports would compare different code scopes and dates.
In October 2022, Rabby disclosed an attack on its Swap contract and urged approval revocation. Neptune Mutual's technical analysis and Revoke.cash associate roughly $200,000 in losses with that exposure. MetaMask's 2022 Demonic issue instead concerned recovery material potentially left on disk under specific extension-use conditions. Halborn disclosed it, and MetaMask identified version 10.11.3 mitigations. Contract approvals and local secret exposure are different failure modes.
Rabby publishes a bug-bounty contact, while MetaMask routes vulnerability reports through HackerOne.
Recovery And Backup
Rabby's optional mobile backup recovers access from a cloud file using its original backup password, while MetaMask social accounts require the linked identity and wallet password.
Rabby's mobile file backup fits someone retaining cloud access and the backup password, while MetaMask's social route fits someone retaining linked-login credentials. Both offer phrase-based alternatives, so the choice is which recovery dependencies the owner can maintain.
Cloud Files And Linked Logins
Rabby Mobile offers manual phrase backup or an encrypted iCloud/Google Drive file. Cloud restoration requires access to that backup and the password used when it was created. A later installation password is not a substitute, and Rabby cannot retrieve the missing backup password.
Google and Apple are MetaMask setup options. Telegram creation is restricted to its extension. Recovery needs the account's password as well as access through the linked identity and backup services. Export the Secret Recovery Phrase if you want an alternative that does not depend on those services.
MetaMask extension passkeys instead provide local access to a phrase-based installation. They cannot restore another installation and are unavailable for social-login accounts.
Restoring access cannot make an exposed phrase secret again. If someone else controls it, move remaining assets to newly secured accounts instead of reinstalling the compromised wallet.
Restoring The Expected Accounts
Both import owner-held EVM recovery material, but check the resulting addresses. MetaMask documents its Ethereum import derivation path, and Rabby's hardware connection settings include account-path selection. Discovery paths or account indices can make an expected address initially appear missing.
Separately imported private keys need their own backups. Hardware accounts must be reconnected using the device's recovery process if necessary. Restoring a MetaMask phrase in Rabby does not add native Bitcoin or Solana support to Rabby.
Networks, Assets, And dApp Access
Rabby automatically selects the supported network requested by a dApp and aggregates integrated-chain portfolios. MetaMask provides EVM network settings and custom RPC endpoints alongside native non-EVM accounts.
Shared EVM access is a tie. Native-chain coverage favors MetaMask. Rabby’s custom networks have fewer features than its integrated chains. Broader network support does not establish better signing protection.
Integrated And Custom EVM Networks
Rabby's integrated chains support portfolio data, simulation and approval tools. Its custom-network option accommodates EVM networks and testnets with fewer features. A custom entry supports basic balances, transfers and dApp connections without promising all the integrated services.
Rabby's extension source implements per-chain custom RPC controls. Check mobile separately before relying on the same controls there. MetaMask documents custom EVM networks and editable RPC URLs on extension and mobile. Its network settings do not automatically synchronize across installations.
Choosing a custom MetaMask RPC can disable Smart Transactions on Ethereum, Linea, Base, Arbitrum and BNB Smart Chain. Check the intended feature after changing the network configuration.
dApps And Non-EVM Accounts
Rabby's extension supplies an injected provider, and its mobile app has an in-app dApp browser. MetaMask also connects through its extension and mobile browser, with compatible applications offering remote mobile connections. A QR code is not by itself proof of WalletConnect support, and the dApp determines which connection choices it presents.
MetaMask's native Bitcoin, Solana and TRON accounts handle those networks without relying only on EVM representations of their assets. Rabby excludes those native networks. MetaMask announced TRON dApp support on September 10, 2026, although its help-center FAQ still contradicted that announcement on September 11. Confirm the intended TRON connection before relying on it.
Platforms, Hardware, And Daily Use
Rabby offers native desktop clients. MetaMask supports Firefox. Mobile signer lists differ, making the intended app and hardware connection decisive.
Choose around your actual setup: a native desktop client, Firefox, or a particular hardware connection. Check the model and transport requirements, including MetaMask’s Ledger–Firefox limitation, before pairing.
Rabby distributes Chrome, Brave and Edge extensions, iOS and Android apps, and macOS and Windows desktop clients. MetaMask's installation guide covers Chrome, Firefox, Brave and Edge plus iOS and Android. Availability does not mean every client has identical backup, signer or transaction features.
Hardware And Account Management
Rabby lists Ledger, Trezor and GridPlus among its extension integrations. Its mobile list includes Ledger and Trezor over Bluetooth, plus Keystone and OneKey. Its Ledger guide specifies USB with the Ethereum app for the extension. These are brand-level lists. Check your model's supported transport before pairing.
MetaMask's extension hardware options include Ledger, Trezor and Lattice signers among other supported devices. MetaMask Mobile lists NGRAVE ZERO alongside Ledger and Keystone. The Ledger integration is EVM-only despite the app's native Bitcoin and Solana accounts. MetaMask also warns about Ledger connection problems with Firefox 112 and later.
Rabby can synchronize extension accounts to mobile by QR. Retain their backups before removing the original installation. MetaMask network settings require separate attention because restoring accounts does not synchronize custom-network configuration.
Support And Accessibility
Rabby's primary technical-support channel is Help Center chat. Email is an alternative, and Discord hosts community discussion. MetaMask starts chat with its bot and offers human assistance when available. Neither channel should receive a recovery phrase or private key. MetaMask has no support phone line, and Rabby says it has no Telegram support.
Guaranteed support response times are Not disclosed.
Swaps, Staking, And Costs
For frequent in-wallet EVM swaps, Rabby's standard wallet fee is lower. Final received amounts still depend on routes, liquidity and gas.
Rabby wins on the wallet swap fee, not on staking or guaranteed execution price. Compare final received amounts after routing and gas. MetaMask’s embedded ETH staking has separate commissions, eligibility rules and risks.
Both apps are free to download. As of September 11, 2026, Rabby's standard in-wallet swap fee is 0.25%, compared with MetaMask's 0.875%. That compares the wallet charges, not live quotes for buying the same tokens.
Swap And Bridge Pricing
On a hypothetical $1,000 swap, those percentages represent $2.50 and $8.75, a $6.25 difference before other execution costs. Rabby waives its swap fee when both tokens belong to the same published eligibility group on the same chain. The exemption does not cover every stablecoin, bridges or network fees.
Cross-chain Rabby routes include a 0.25% wallet service charge in the quote. MetaMask also aggregates cross-chain routes through services including LI.FI and Socket. Route availability, price impact, gas and destination delivery can outweigh a smaller wallet charge. Compare final received amounts using the same assets, networks, size and time.
Rabby's prepaid GasAccount sends native gas tokens to your wallet address on supported chains. It debits maximum estimated transaction gas plus the transfer cost of delivering those tokens. Token-funded balances are withdrawable, while Apple Pay and Google Pay funding is not.
Staking And Fiat Services
MetaMask offers pooled ETH staking with a 15% reward commission. Its Portfolio validator service charges 10% of rewards and requires 32 ETH to enter. Pooled exits involve an unstake request and later claim, with network-dependent waiting. Regional eligibility and contract, validator and slashing risks need separate consideration. Connecting Rabby to a staking dApp uses that provider's conditions.
For normal crypto purchases, MetaMask's 1% wallet charge is already inside the displayed processing fee. Do not add it twice. Purchase providers apply their own identity and regional requirements. Optional card or financial-account products have separate terms and do not decide ordinary EVM signing costs.
Privacy And Data Collection
EVM transaction histories remain public. Offchain services can receive balance queries and transaction requests, including for hardware-controlled accounts.
Privacy-sensitive users can avoid optional online recovery and review each connected service in either wallet. MetaMask's analytics controls and Rabby's policy categories are different disclosures, not measurements proving lower collection by one app.
App Data And Network Providers
Rabby's December 9, 2025 privacy policy names OPCODE LABS PTE. LTD. and describes contact information, device data, usage information and IP-address collection.
MetaMask's analytics guidance distinguishes onboarding choices. Social-login accounts participate by default, while phrase-based setup requests an opt-in. Events may be associated with addresses or transaction hashes and use Segment and Mixpanel. Users can opt out and request deletion.
MetaMask security analysis separately receives the dApp URL, request method, chain identifier and transaction payload. Analytics settings and security alerts are separate controls. A custom RPC changes the recipient of applicable blockchain requests without removing every other service connection.
Recovery, Providers And Identity
Rabby cloud backup and MetaMask social setup add external recovery services. Both permit phrase setups without those options.
Fiat providers, support conversations and connected dApps have their own data needs. Creating a wallet differs from buying crypto through an identity-checked provider. Neither an email-free phrase setup nor a custom RPC makes subsequent activity anonymous.
Updates, Longevity, And Ecosystem
Both publish client development records. Component licenses and backups affect migration, but neither establishes a longer future support life.
Both expose development records and offer portable recovery material for ordinary EVM accounts. Rabby's extension reuse terms differ from MetaMask's, but neither licensing nor a recent release guarantees future support or continued hosted features.
Rabby publishes extension, mobile and desktop repositories. Its extension uses MIT terms but reserves the Rabby brand name and logo. Those permissions should not be assigned automatically to every mobile dependency, hosted service or desktop component.
MetaMask publishes extension and mobile source under separate restrictive licenses. Public availability permits inspection within those terms, not unrestricted open-source reuse. MetaMask's September 10, 2026 extension release was 13.47.1. The developer records a Firefox build-reproducibility fix, distinct from independent verification of a store binary.
For someone switching from MetaMask to Rabby Wallet, owner-held recovery material reduces dependence on one interface for compatible EVM accounts. It does not reproduce MetaMask-only services or native non-EVM support. Keep the old installation until the expected addresses, balances and signing route are established in the replacement.
Rabby Wallet vs MetaMask FAQs
Is Rabby Wallet or MetaMask safer for DeFi?
Neither has established superior detection across the same malicious requests and current app versions. Both show transaction information and warnings that users can override. A compatible hardware account keeps signing keys on a separate device, but a misleading approval can still authorize losses. Check the requested permissions and the device's own display before signing.
Can Rabby Wallet and MetaMask use the same recovery phrase?
Both accept recovery material for EVM accounts, but confirm that the expected addresses appear after import. Account discovery and derivation settings can differ, and separately imported keys require separate backups. Sharing a phrase also shares compromise risk. Rabby cannot recreate MetaMask's native Bitcoin or Solana interface simply by importing the same words.
Is Rabby Wallet or MetaMask cheaper for swaps?
Rabby's standard wallet swap fee is 0.25%, versus MetaMask's 0.875%, checked September 11, 2026. Rabby also exempts eligible same-chain token pairs from its swap fee. These percentages do not establish the best final exchange rate. Compare quoted output and network charges for the same amount, assets and route before confirming.
Does Rabby Wallet or MetaMask support Bitcoin and Solana?
MetaMask supports native Bitcoin and Solana alongside EVM networks. Rabby focuses on EVM networks and excludes those native chains. Holding a Bitcoin-related token on Ethereum differs from controlling a Bitcoin address. Hardware connections have separate limits, so MetaMask's native asset support does not imply Bitcoin or Solana access through its Ledger integration.
How do Rabby Wallet and MetaMask recover a lost phone?
Rabby Mobile can restore from retained recovery material or a configured cloud backup with its original backup password. MetaMask social-login accounts use the linked identity and password, with phrase export as a fallback. Phrase-based MetaMask accounts need their recovery material. Hardware accounts use their device's recovery process, not the app's software backup.
Are Rabby Wallet and MetaMask open source?
Rabby's extension publishes MIT terms with restrictions on reuse of its branding. Its mobile and desktop source are public, but the extension license does not automatically govern every component. MetaMask's extension and mobile repositories use separate restrictive licenses. Source visibility helps inspection but does not prove a downloaded release matches that source or contains no vulnerabilities.
Can Rabby Wallet and MetaMask connect to hardware wallets?
Yes, with different platform lists. Both extensions support Ledger and Trezor. Rabby Mobile lists Ledger and Trezor over Bluetooth, Keystone and OneKey, while MetaMask Mobile lists Ledger, Keystone and NGRAVE ZERO. Confirm the exact model and transport before choosing an app. Pair the signer without entering its recovery phrase into either software wallet.
Do Rabby Wallet and MetaMask require KYC?
Their ordinary phrase-based self-custody setup does not require a wallet-level identity check. Optional purchases and financial services can add provider verification and regional conditions. MetaMask social login requires a linked account and password, while Rabby's cloud backup requires the relevant cloud access. Those dependencies differ from a blanket KYC requirement for every wallet transaction.

Start with the accounts and devices you need. Native assets, custom networks and hardware connections are separate checks: support for one does not guarantee support for the others. The sections below explain those limits before comparing signing, recovery and costs.
