Another Amazon Prime Day is upon us, offering to its Prime subscribers various, deep discounts on pretty much anything sellable and purchasable, and some crypto companies have decided to join this hunt for best deals, offering their own discounts.

The annual shopping holiday launched on July 15th and ends July 16th, 23:59 PM PST.

In this time, shoppers can enjoy Moon’s “Crypto Prime Day” with additional 5% off any purchase made on Amazon with bitcoin. Moon is a browser extension that offers an alternative payment method to its users when shopping online. In a blog post, founder and CEO of Moon, Kenneth Kruger explained that the company offers support for shopping directly on Amazon.com where shoppers can complete their purchases with bitcoin via Lightning Network, or with bitcoin, litecoin, ethereum, or bitcoin cash via Coinbase.

“We’re hoping this not only reward folks who already have Bitcoin”, said the CEO, “but incentivizes the average consumer to learn about Bitcoin, driving education and adoption”, Kruger said, adding “Perhaps you have a friend who’s been on the fence about Bitcoin. Maybe an additional 5% off on Prime Day is just the incentive needed to push them over the edge.”

According to Kruger, they don’t charge fees for purchases over Moon, and explained that they collect a small fee when the merchant gets paid. Furthermore, he said that the Firefox extension is ready and will be out soon, as well as that the other Amazons, besides Amazon.com, will be added in the coming months.

Moon is not the only one joining the Prime Day, as the U.S.-based crypto payments startup Fold, also known for its Lighting Pizza, and which recently introduced a lightning network protocol, is offering a USD 5 Amazon gift card to users who spend over USD 50 via its platform.

Currently, the app supports Starbucks, Uber, Whole Foods, Target, Rei, Home Depot, AMC, Macy’s, Southewest Airlines, and Dunkin’ Donuts, and they have plans to add more retailers to the list.
