Kusama was founded in 2019 by Gavin Wood, one of the co-founders of Ethereum and the creator of the Solidity programming language used for writing smart contracts on Ethereum. Gavin Wood is also the founder of Polkadot and the company Parity Technologies, which developed the Substrate framework used by both Polkadot and Kusama.
