Michael J. Casey ist Vorsitzender der Decentralized AI Society, ehemaliger Chief Content Officer bei CoinDesk und Co-Autor von Unser größter Kampf: Freiheit, Menschlichkeit und Würde im digitalen Zeitalter zurückerobern. Zuvor war Casey CEO von Streambed Media, einem Unternehmen, das er mitbegründete, um Herkunftsdaten für digitale Inhalte zu entwickeln. Er war zudem Senior Advisor bei der Digital Currency Initiative des MIT Media Lab und Senior Lecturer an der MIT Sloan School of Management. Bevor er zum MIT wechselte, verbrachte Casey 18 Jahre beim Wall Street Journal, wo seine letzte Position die eines Senior Columnists für globale Wirtschaftsangelegenheiten war.

Casey hat fünf Bücher verfasst, darunter „The Age of Cryptocurrency: How Bitcoin and Digital Money are Challenging the Global Economic Order“ und „The Truth Machine: The Blockchain and the Future of Everything“, beide gemeinsam mit Paul Vigna.

Nach seinem Wechsel zu CoinDesk in Vollzeit legte Casey verschiedene bezahlte Beratungspositionen nieder. Er hält unbezahlte Ämter als Berater für gemeinnützige Organisationen, darunter die Digital Currency Initiative des MIT Media Lab und die Deep Trust Alliance.
