Paribus (PBX) is a protocol running on cross-chain decentralized finance (DeFi) that aims to unlock underlying liquidity for various conventional and nonconventional digital assets. According to the whitepaper, the platform's core objective is to explore financial tools and products for NFTs. However, Paribus is powered by Cardano, which permits this protocol to remain chain agnostic and simultaneously connect numerous assets across multiple blockchains. This network consists of several different user types. First, lenders, who are the key in any DeFi platform and who are most of the time termed as holders within the cryptocurrency space. Paribus attempts to be an additional outlet for lenders to gain a passive income with their underlying assets appreciating in value over time. Second, borrowers who aim to operate strictly as a collateralized loan platform. Borrowers must deposit assets to borrow against it.

Paribus has its native governance token that permits holders to create and vote on proposals related to protocol guidance. The token's ultimate goal is to align the incentives across its yield protocol and create a codified harmony between the stakeholders. Also, the PBX holders are entitled to a percentage of fees earned by the protocol according to their stake.
