Populous (PPT) is a network that aims to provide liquidity for up to 90 days to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Populous also utilizes a second on-chain token called Poken, which is not tradeable on the market and is used to facilitate transactions on the blockchain.

Populous is primarily designed to address the liquidity needs of small and medium-sized enterprises. It offers a financial tool known as invoice selling, which allows businesses to secure loans on their outstanding invoices. This enables businesses to utilize the underlying resources even if the customer has not yet paid the invoice. By transferring the process of lending resources backed by invoices onto the blockchain, Populous aims to make it more scalable and easier for enterprises to use. This approach to liquidity management has attracted resources from large firms, such as Fireblue Capital.

Populous was founded in 2017 by twin brothers Steve and Sam Williams from South London. Steve Williams, a philosophy graduate from London Metropolitan University, has been the acting CEO of Populous since November 2016. Sam Williams has since ventured into other businesses, founding The Trend View and Zloadr. Populous (PPT) tokens have a maximum supply of 53,252,246 PPT, all of which have been minted and released to the public. After the initial coin offering (ICO), the Populous founders and team received 32.4% of the total supply, with the remaining 67.6% distributed among investors and interested third parties.
