Tokenized stocks run on blockchain created by taking a traditional stock and creating a representative tokenized version of the stock share. A small portion of one stock is distributing to multiple users. To regulate the trading on FTX, Canco GmbH (FTX Switzerland) is an authorized financial intermediary permitted to offer tokenized products. All FTX users who trade tokenized stocks can also become customers of FTX Switzerland and pass through the KYC and compliance.

The website further says trading tokenized stocks is similar to trading in other markets. Customers trade shares with cryptocurrencies or traditional currencies on the FTX platform. With trading, FTX allows customers to build wealth and grow fundings by lowering the barrier to entry for blue-chip stocks and other traditional securities. The platform aims to disrupt the conventional stock market with tokenized stocks.

Tokenized Stock trading platform FTX was established in 2019 by MIT graduates Sam Bankman-Fried and Gary Wang. Before founding FTX, Bankman-Fried traded international ETFs at Jane Street Capital, a proprietary trading firm, and founded Alameda Research, a quantitative trading firm. An exchange-traded fund (ETF) is a box of securities that tracks an underlying index. ETFs contain investments such as stocks and bonds.
