DeFi Pulse Index (DPI) operates as an innovative digital assets index and is a product of the Index Coop ecosystem. Index Coop refers to a platform that aims to upgrade the existing crypto space by providing easy-to-use yet efficient investment tools and token baskets from individuals to businesses. The DPI index is designed with a focus to track tokens’ performance within the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) market. The weightage ratio for the index is determined with the help of each token’s circulating supply. The DPI platform chooses projects in the DeFi space committed to ongoing maintenance and development.

The DeFi Pulse Index system has recently moved from Version0.1 to Version0.2 for introducing a new inclusion criterion for tokens to be added to the index. According to v0.2, the token must have a circulating supply of 7.5 percent or higher to maintain the token’s liquidity.

The DeFi space has grown tremendously over the last few years, however, using DeFi can sometimes be a task for new users. The DeFi Pulse Index was created as a blockchain financial product to lower the entry barriers of DeFi. The platform also takes care of the experienced DeFi users by giving them exposure through one single asset.

DeFi Pulse Index is described as not to be a synthetic asset or a derivative.A synthetic asset is  a tokenized derivative that imitates the value of another asset. Instead, users own the tokens with a capitalization-weighted index. Users can directly redeem their DPI tokens for DeFi tokens.

DPI is a product of the Index Coop ecosystem, and Index Coop utilizes infrastructure and leveraging contracts of Set Protocol. Set Protocol is a founding member of Index Coop and refers to a non-custodial entity developed on Ethereum to enable the creation, management, and trading of digital assets.
