The TurtleCoin v2 development represented the introduction of the wTRTL-wrapped token of TurtleCoin. A wrapped token is a token with the same value as the original token since the original token is unable to function on other platforms. The whitepaper explains that the wTRTL was brought to provide the community users the trading opportunities until the TurtleCoin v2 development finalizes. However, in the development phase of TurtleCoin v2, a need for a governance token has arisen, and that's why the gTRTL governance token was made. The wTRTL token holders can stake and acquire gTRTL tokens as a staking reward. The gTRTL and wTRTL are ERC20 tokens and gTRTL help in voting and validators' elections on the TurtleCoin network.
