Splintershards (SPS) is a cryptocurrency governance token, integrated into a digital next-generation collectible card game, i.e., Splinterlands, based on blockchain technology. The platform aims to power the gaming industry by allowing players to play, trade, and lease their card assets in-game, irrespective of skill level and collection size. Subsequently, the SPS platform enables users to easily receive and play built-in game plugins through desktop and mobile devices.

According to the whitepaper, Splintershards aims to help players truly own their assets (or trading cards) in the digital game. The platform seeks to allow players to own and trade their digital assets freely, once again with blockchain technology. The team intends to facilitate users with an experience of the game that is a true scarcity and transparency, which means all cards on Splinterlands have a verifiable supply and historical record.

SPS is a cryptocurrency governance token of the Splintershards platform. The token integrates into the Splinterlands game to deliver rising levels of decision-making capacity. In addition, the SPS token manages the product to the player-base, asset owners, and stakeholders. SPS token holders get an opportunity to participate in management and advancements and acquire bonuses.

Further, the SPS token runs the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) structure of the Splintershards ecosystem through a sequence of the smart contracts that seek to be published on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) platform. Users can stake SPS token in BSC wallet address or a Splinterlands game account to receive staking rewards. However, staked SPS tokens are not liquid and may not be transferred or traded. Thus, users can either use staked tokens to participate in governance votes related to the game or earn rewards from the SPS Staking Rewards pool.
