Regen Network (REGEN) is a platform that visions to create an architecture to support financial services for ecological claims and data. According to its whitepaper, the platform aims to develop ecological awareness in the economy. Regen Network runs beneath the blockchain serving as Layer 0, over which other projects can build and implement their climate-focused business models. The platform uses distributed ledger and remote sensing technology to develop new tools to connect humanity to its environment. Distributing Ledger is a backbone of blockchain technology that enables the safe and secure functioning of a decentralized digital database. At the same time, remote sensing technology used by the platform gathers information and analyzes a phenomenon without making any physical contact. 

The human economy has a negative impact on the environment, generating land degradation, environmental destruction, and climate change. To solve such problems, Regen Network encourages regenerative land-use practices, restores ecosystems, and reserves climate change. The platform is community-centric; therefore, it propagates impactful ecological DAOs and new methodological development with project developers, scientists, and climate impact researchers.

In addition, the platform mints, release, and transfers new ecological digital assets and develop assets baskets with Regen marketplace. The Regen Network is built over Regen Ledger's blockchain that powers Regen Registry. Regen Ledger is a public ecological accounting system that allows various registries to communicate and deal with one another. It is also a public blockchain that works on proof-of-stake mechanism. The primary goal of Regen Ledger is to collect claims and assertions about ecological health and track a new set of financial assets securely.

As cited in its whitepaper, REGEN is the Regen Ledger’s native blockchain token, which is used to carry out functions related to the operation of the Regen Network. REGEN token ensures utility for climate markers and ecological data. Also, the token holders of REGEN can participate in the Regen Network economy. The REGEN token holds the ability to access ecological knowledge and rewards ecological outcomes. The token aims to gain value from transaction fees on ecological assets and other transactions originated on-chain.

The Regen Network was founded in 2017. Brecht Deriemaeker is the co-founder of Regen Network. Besides that, Gregory Landua is the CEO of Regen Network, whereas Aaron Craelius is the Chief Technical Officer.
