GeroWallet (GERO) got its name from Gerolamo Cardano, an Italian polymath, and a next-generation Web3 wallet. As per the whitepaper, in complement to traditional functionality in Web3 wallets, GeroWallet aims to deliver traders the capability to trade digital assets utilizing other forms of money. GeroWallet also permits staking and margin trade of the assets. These operations are meant to concentrate on user experience, delivering a full suite of elements for both inexperienced and seasoned enthusiasts. The platform's mission is to develop the primary Cardano wallet that brags multichain and interchain compatibility, while delivering a premium user experience via an intuitive UI. GeroWallet claims to visualize a wallet that authorizes individuals for accessing decentralized finance (DeFi) technology and a hoard of features. GeroWallet also claims to reliably and efficiently open the Cardano network power by combining additional decentralized applications and sister protocols.

The blockchain adoption presented Web3 wallets and additional DeFi products that deliver alternative answers to the existing financial system. GeroWallet aims to be a decentralized Web3 wallet with chain agnostic Web3 functions, exceptional UX experience, and an all-in-one platform that allows cross-chain and interchain swapping, liquidity locking, and hardware plug-in combination with third-party partners.

GERO is the native and governance token for the GeroWallet platform. GEROtoken is utilized for all transaction cost payments on the platform conducted via GeroWallet. This governance token empowers traders to decide on the parameters and direction for the wallet elements, including fees and rewards.

Shawn and Penos are the cofounders of the GeroWallet platform. The founding team includes Yifei as the product designer, Kostas as the lead developer, and Chris as the cyber security expert.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the wallet proposed support with Cardano NFT and Cardano’s native token. Later, in the first quarter of 2022, its own GERO token was launched.
