BATA is a cryptocurrency developed to overcome the traditional Barter exchange using traditional currency. The Barter signifies a way of exchange where services or goods are instantly exchanged for other services or goods without using any medium for the exchange, such as funds. In order to overcome Barter challenges, Bata.io introduced the Barter platform for the purpose of trading and exchanges. The Barter platform aims to improve the future of commerce by removing the challenges in the daily lives of merchants and consumers of goods and services. 

According to the whitepaper, the platform provides unique tools, interfaces, and automation qualities for merchants of goods and services, with the idea of redefining the commerce sector using Bata. In order to support this ecosystem, a Barter currency called BTA has been re-designed by the platform on the blockchain, which is decentralized, safe, and broadly available for users. This BTA can be used to trade without the need for traditional currency. Further, in recent times Barter Systems are maintained and administered by a central party, which can also be overcome with BTA. 

According to the website, Bata is a unique peer-to-peer cryptocurrency created to work as a mode of exchange that offers instant and near-zero cost payments to individuals residing in any part of the world. The token's global payment network is decentralized and open-source without any central controls. Bata aims to have quicker transaction confirmation times and enhanced storage efficiency compared to major math-based cryptocurrencies. Bata features include:

●      Deadlock Protection. Difficulty decreases even when no fresh blocks are discovered. New blocks get mined quickly even after a higher hash rate period, preventing "stuck chain" problems. Stuck chain issues refer to the transactions that get stuck because the transaction fee set was too small. 

●      Masternodes.Masternodes are robust servers supported by collateral held in Bata and are created to offer advanced governance and benefits on the blockchain. Masternodes are an element of the framework that supports major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

These frameworks and the utility of Bata indicate that the platform intends to be an ideal substitute for the traditional currencies used for trading. Further, the platform introduces new methodologies and changes conventional trading practices with the features of its token.

The whitepaper of the platform was released on April 2, 2017. The token of the platform has a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 BTA.
