Global Social Chain (GSC) is the new generation of social network chain that consists of millions of social users. Global Social Chain aims to incorporate blockchain technology to destabilize centralized social networks. The platform seeks to solve the problems of current social networking platforms such as low social efficiency, information security, and uneven community content quality. 

The Global Social Chain seeks to provide users with features like protecting the users’ information, restructuring users’ digital asset ownership, building a value-oriented social network, and establishing a friendly and healthy social environment and fair user credit evaluation system. The GSC created an open and decentralized using smart contracts. Smart contracts are just like regular contracts; however, instead of being drafted on paper, these contracts run in the form of protocols on the blockchain. These smart contracts solve the transaction problem and ensure transparency in Global Social Chain. 

To achieve its vision, the platform developed MICO, a mobile-friendly social network for the global market. As stated in its whitepaper, this social media application functions in the concept of an ‘intelligent social recommendation system based on interest’ that allows users to attain a rich experience online. The platform also introduced a reward mechanism to eliminate the problems and improve the security and privacy feature on the platform. The Global Social Chain uses GSC tokens based on Ethereum to initiate a reward mechanism.

The GSC chain consists of the base, service, interface, and application layers. The base layer integrates the distributed database, and at the core of the base layer, the GSC is a service system customized for content-based social platforms. The GSC consists of an e-wallet to store assets and a licensing system to ensure the ownership of the user. The interface protocol enables developers to implement various applications. The application layer is to promote ecological prosperity. The main product features of GSC are GSC coins, digital wallets, safety systems, and license systems. 

GSC blockchain research and development was started in May 2017. In October 2017, a test for digital wallet and token GSC was done and the official operation was initiated in January 2018. Sean Su is the chairman of GSC, and Evan Ye is the senior chief scientist.
