Retreeb (TREEB) is a decentralized approach to pay, enabling users to act according to the current universal values of ethics, sharing, and solidarity. This is also a distributed payment solution, which shares one-third of the network fees to fund social and solidarity projects. In simpler words, the goal of the Retreeb platform is to create a payment infrastructure that builds conditions for improved distribution of value while avoiding additional fees for customers. 

According to the whitepaper, Retreeb is created on the Fantom blockchain utilizing a fork Fantom Opera including a DAG consensus. Fantom employs a proprietary technology called Distributed Control Rights Management (DCRM) to enable interoperability or information sharing. In addition, the project’s core features seek to include transparency in operations, reduced carbon footprint, and focusing on CSR (corporate, social, and environmental responsibility). Besides, it has been developed to aim to resolve problems associated with scalability and high network fees/transaction costs. 

The Retreeb token is represented with the ticker TREEB. However, the ecosystem has two assets—(s)Treeb (Stable Treeb) and (u)Treeb (Utility Treeb). (s)Treeb is a single-currency stablecoin purchased using traditional currency: the euro in the European Union countries and CHF in Switzerland. (s)Treeb is collateralized by the user's currency and backed by a reserve of value that is strictly equal to the supply. This currency mask acts as the currency during transactions between the user and the retailer. On the other hand, (u)Treeb or TREEB is ERC20compatible and a governance utility token for the Retreeb community and ecosystem. (u)Treeb has a fixed offer with a variable value. It has various roles within the Retreeb ecosystem concerning governance and decision-making.

 Moreover, the project is compatible with Ethereum virtual machine (EVM), thus seeking to enable the protocol to write, deploy, and execute smart contracts that integrate both (s)Treebs and TREEBs.

Retreeb was launched in 2019 by four founders including Jérémi Lepetit, Quentin Lepetit, Sayah El Yatim, and Stéphanie. 

Jérémi Lepetit is the CEO (chief executive officer) and Quentin Lepetit is the CDO (chief data officer) of the platform. The whitepaper was published in 2021.
