Spartan aims to solve the liquidity and synthetic assets problems. Current automated market maker (AMM) protocols are susceptible to price manipulation and value extraction from different agents, which penalizes liquidity providers. Also, current synthetic asset minting  protocols use illiquid markets to liquidate collateral. This liquidating of collateral reduces capital efficiency and makes the protocol vulnerable to price reductions. Spartan attempts to solve the problem via AMM protocol, but with the key difference of a single settlement asset and incentives to bootstrap liquidity. Spartan also seeks to solve the liquid creation of synthetic assets using collateralized pool shares instead of illiquid collateral. In addition, the underlying algorithm uses slip-based fees to drive value capture to liquidity providers. The platform links the assets to the pools so positions can be predictably priced and instantly liquidated.

Spartan Protocol (SPARTA) is the native token of the platform. SPARTA is used as the common settlement asset in all pools and aims to provide an internal pricing mechanism without depending on external authorities. SPARTA is initially distributed via a process of proof of burn, where participants elect to destroy previous native assets in return for a share of SPARTA. In addition, SPARTA is required as the base asset and the collateral asset.

The fixed maximum total supply of Spartan Protocol (SPARTA) tokens is 300 million.
