The Milk token is a cryptocurrency system aimed at generating funds for charity. It is also a decentralized finance (Defi) cryptocurrency that seeks to add value to society via gamified charitable giving. 

According to the whitepaper, the genuine MILK and BUTTER tokens were launched in March and April 2021, respectively, which later gathered a user base of more than 45,000 token holders. However, it was later decided to migrate both the tokens into one "MILK and BUTTER token," considering input from leading exchanges, modifications to the Binance Smart Chain ecosystem, and following the lead of various other firms functioning within the space. The key objective of the MILK and BUTTER token is to raise funds for needy people by means of transaction fees that can be transferred to different nonprofit partners depending upon the governance of the token holder. The project aims to build a community that can produce value for donations by building real utility for community members. 

The token operates by using a fee on each transaction. A share of that fee is transferred to the charity wallet, wherein token holders can vote on the distribution of funds to partnered nonprofits like Action Against Hunger, Food for Life Global, and Good360. As all the transactions are secured on the blockchain, users can cross-check whether the funds have reached the right place or not. 

MILK token is a fragment of the Milk and Butter ecosystem. MILK and BUTTER tokens are built on Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and follow BEP-20 standards, the token standards that define the rules of token usage on BSC.

The CEO of MILK token is Christian Claypool, with experience in computer programming, project management, and engineering design. Claypool holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Milk and Butter LLC was launched on March 30, 2021, and since then, it has donated around $485,000 to charity as given in the whitepaper.
