Oxygen (OXY) is a decentralized finance (DeFi) prime brokerage service that operates on the Solana blockchain and is powered by Serum's on-chain infrastructure. Oxygen is designed around Pools, which are collective baskets of assets that perform collective actions. The primary function of Oxygen is to provide a borrow-lending facility, allowing users to potentially receive compensation and leverage their portfolios. This forms the foundation for a vibrant and decentralized financial ecosystem. Oxygen seeks to democratize finance by making it more accessible and efficient for all participants. The Oxygen Protocol is powered by the OXY token, which governs the protocol and receives 100% of its net revenues.

Oxygen operates around a pools-based infrastructure where users can create a pool by depositing their assets and marking which ones to lend. Users set their lending parameters, including desired maturity and yield. Oxygen matches borrowers and lenders through an on-chain order book. This allows users to get a fair price for borrowing/lending. Oxygen also allows for multiple use of the same collateral. Users can potentially generate yield on their portfolio while borrowing other assets at the same time. Furthermore, users can utilize all of their portfolio across multiple asset types as collateral when borrowing, which should mean lower liquidation risk for user portfolios.

Oxygen seeks to provide a range of use cases for its users. The first phase of Oxygen is a borrow-lending protocol, allowing users to potentially earn yield on their lent out funds, borrow assets from a pool and pay interest to the pool, trade directly out of the pool which enables collective action and efficient capital usage, and access more complex products using their pool’s assets as collateral. Future plans include creating volatility trading agreements and structured product functions, so that developers can create their own structured products. Oxygen's vision is to recreate marketplace-esque business units which exist within investment banks and make them accessible to everyone.

Oxygen was launched with the release of its mainnet alpha. The project is headquartered in Switzerland and the core team is made up of individuals who are passionate about building the financial infrastructure of the future. They collectively have decades of fintech experience, with 15 developers located around the world. Oxygen was co-founded by Alex Grebnev and Viktor Mangazeev. Alex Grebnev has over 16 years of investment banking experience, while Viktor is a serial technology entrepreneur. Oxygen’s investors include Alameda Research, Genesis Capital, CMS, MultiCoin, and other HFT firms.
