Rocket Pool ETH is a unique decentralizedstaking pool protocol on Ethereum. Rocket Pool aims to implement the core ethos of DeFi and Ethereum, specifically the non-custodial, trustless nature that supports self-sovereignty. According to the whitepaper, the community-owned Rocket Pool is based on the PoS (Proof of Stake) algorithm, wherein users can participate by tokenized staking or by running a node in the protocol. Operators need to stake 16 ETH to run a node and earn commissions and rewards thereon. Further, users can stake their ETH tokens on the Rocket Pool network to earn rETH tokens automatically. The rewards will be gained over time, regardless of whether their ETH tokens are traded, sold, or held; rewards are automatic from the moment they deposit ETH for staking in the liquidity pool. 

The RocketPool network aims to solve the issue of entry barriers for staking in Ethereum 2.0 for individuals, groups, and businesses. The network claims to support stakers of all shapes and sizes via the Rocket Pool ETH platform. 

In addition, the objective behind the Rocket Pool protocol is to ensure that the network is not in the control of any one individual. The protocol operates as a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), where the governance is distributed among the users of the network. RPL is the native governance token of the RocketPool network, and users need to hold the tokens to cast their votes on any important decisions.   

The Rocket Pool network offers two types of tokens to its users, rETH, and RPL. rETH is a staking token that users will instantly receive for their staking while RPL is the governance token of the Rocket Pool network.
