Therefore, EncrypGen seeks to give control to individual consumers over their data and reward them for their contributions to science and medicine. Further, the platform operates on Gene-Chain, which is the platform’s proprietary blockchain. 

Further, for the advancement of science, it is essential that researchers have access to data. However, user identities must also be protected as genomic data reveals things about people they do not want to disclose. This platform achieves this using Gene-Chain. 

The platform de-identifies the raw DNA data file by removing email, name, and other sensitive information from it. The buyers of DNA data search Gene-Chain profiles as per their project requirement and buy the de-identified data with DNA tokens.

The platform was launched on November 6, 2018. Dr. David Koepselland and his wife, Dr. Vanessa Gonzalez Covarrubias, are the platform’s founders. Dr. David Koepselland is an ethicist, attorney, and author of various articles on ethics, genes, and ownership. In contrast, Dr. Vanessa Gonzalez Covarrubias is a pharmacogenomic research scientist.
