Patrick McHenry is an American politician who has been serving as the U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 10th congressional district since 2005. He is a member of the Republican Party and has held various leadership positions within the party.
Congressman McHenry has been a member of the House Financial Services Committee since he was elected to Congress, and he was chosen to lead the committee in the 118th Congress. As chairman, he will continue to promote novel ideas that give American households and small companies more access to banking services and credit.
Congressman McHenry was chosen as the Republican Leader at the start of the 116th Congress before taking on the role of Chairman. He also held the position of Vice Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, which he was nominated to at the start of the 114th Congress by Jeb Hensarling (TX-05), the committee's then chairman.
Congressman McHenry is a graduate of Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, N.C. and Belmont Abbey College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History.
