Vave is a crypto casino and sportsbook that went live in 2022, one of the multi-product online crypto casinos that run gaming and sports betting from a single account at vave.com. The brand began under a Curaçao license, moved to Costa Rica in 2024, and its licensing is now Anjouan.
Our Vave Casino review covers ratings, payments, and playthrough terms, while the betting product gets its own assessment in the Vave Sportsbook review.
Who Operates Vave
The current operator is a company registered in Costa Rica that took over the brand from its former Curaçao-registered operator in 2024. The same two entities stand behind the casino brands Hell Spin and Ivibet. Australia's ACMA named the former Curaçao operator as Hell Spin's operator in a September 2022 formal warning, and later Dutch enforcement over Vave was addressed to the current operator. Costa Rica registers companies but does not license or supervise online gambling. Vave's gaming license is held in Anjouan.
Ownership History
Vave launched in 2022 with a Curaçao-registered operator, running on a Curaçao eGaming sublicense — the site itself never displayed a license number, though third-party directories recorded one. In 2024, operations transferred to a Costa Rica-registered entity, and the former operator stopped appearing in licensing databases. Neither company has publicly documented whether the change was a sale or an internal re-registration, and Vave's help center continued to name the former operator after the move — so which entity holds player obligations at any given time is only established by the terms published on the site.
Licensing and Regulatory Record
At launch, Vave held the sublicense arrangement that was standard for Curaçao crypto casinos of its generation. That cover ended with the 2024 move. Vave's licensing is now Anjouan. No license number is published and no regulator is named anywhere on the site, and Costa Rica issues no online-gambling licenses of its own.
The Dutch regulator has acted against the operator twice. On 29 April 2025, the Kansspelautoriteit issued the operator a cease-and-desist order covering vave.com, vave-luck.com, and 65avev55.com, with penalties of €280,000 per week up to €840,000 if Dutch players kept their access. It went on to demand the full €840,000 and, in June 2026, imposed a further fine of €3,082,000 after inspections found the sites still reachable from the Netherlands. How the brand actually performs for players — payouts, terms, and support — is assessed in the Vave Casino and Vave Sportsbook reviews above.
