Bitcoin-marked assets travel through an industrial tunnel toward Binance while torn evidence notes the $423M trail and unresolved sale status.

A mysterious whale just funneled 6,494 BTC into Binance, triggering massive sell-off fears

The full confirmed balance was swept through transactions paying a historically Binance-attributed wallet, leaving customer deposit and internal staging unresolved.

Quick Take

  1. A Bitcoin address received 6,494.34685667 BTC over 45 confirmed outputs, then spent its full confirmed balance.
  2. Twenty-three transactions sent nearly all traced BTC through a wallet historically attributed to Binance.
  3. The trail shows exchange exposure, not a confirmed sale; ownership and any customer deposit remain unresolved.

Over three weeks, a Bitcoin address took in more than 6,494 BTC and moved its full confirmed balance, with nearly all of the traced coins traveling through transactions that also paid a wallet historically attributed to Binance.

The flow was worth roughly $423 million, placing a substantial block of BTC within reach of exchange infrastructure. The ledger cannot identify a single owner, distinguish a customer deposit from Binance’s own wallet staging, or reveal trades executed inside the venue.

Lookonchain surfaced the address early Sunday and described its owner as a mysterious whale that was possibly a miner. The transaction history establishes the scale and route, while leaving those ownership descriptions uncorroborated.

How the Bitcoin address moved

The record for the Bitcoin address shows 45 confirmed incoming outputs totaling 6,494.34685667 BTC between July 19 and Aug. 8. Across its 70 confirmed transactions, the address subsequently spent the same total and held a zero confirmed balance at the reporting snapshot.

Twenty-five transactions spent coins from the address. Twenty-three of them also paid bc1qm34lsc65zpw79lxes69zkqmk6ee3ewf0j77s3h and together consumed 6,494.33835675 BTC from the subject address. The other two involved a combined 0.00849992 BTC from it.

The 6,494 BTC measures the Bitcoin address’s contribution to those transactions, rather than the exact amount credited to the destination. Some of the transactions combined coins from other addresses.

The final confirmed receipt in the reconstructed set delivered 1,000.00882659 BTC on Aug. 8. A follow-on transaction spent it within two and a half hours and paid the same destination.

A 2022 proof-of-reserves report listed that destination among addresses Binance controlled at the time. A later US federal court record also identified it as Binance on the Bitcoin network. Those historical records establish a strong public attribution at their respective dates, rather than current control in August 2026.

The pattern fits deposit-and-sweep activity, a process exchanges use to consolidate coins from incoming addresses. An external holder preparing to trade and an exchange reorganizing its own wallets can produce a similar public trail.

That ambiguity changes the market signal. Exchange-addressed BTC creates sell-side optionality because the assets sit at a point where they can enter the market, while the blockchain stops at the venue’s boundary.

Bitcoin traded near $65,178 at the time of the analysis. The next useful signals are additional confirmed flows involving the Bitcoin address along the same route and changes in broader exchange balances and spot volume. Together, those measures would show whether the supply is growing and whether the market is absorbing it.
