eToro is an online brokerage platform that offers trading on thousands of stocks and ETFs, options, and 125+ cryptocurrencies. Our eToro review found that this wide selection of assets isn’t the exchange’s only advantage. It also stands out for low trading fees—including 0% commission on stocks, ETFs, and options—and its innovative social trading network. You can share your trades and copy over 100 experienced traders with just a click or tap.
eToro does have some shortcomings, though, including limited stock analysis and research tools and a lack of crypto-crypto trading pairs. However, if you want access to a wide range of assets and take part in social trading at the lowest possible price, this brokerage platform can be very attractive.
eToro Pros and Cons
eToro lets you trade 6,000+ stocks, 125+ cryptocurrencies, 680+ ETFs, 24 indices, and 43 commodities using its web platform and mobile app. Its list of trading products and services also includes CFD trading, copy trading, and staking. However, what makes eToro stand out is its Smart Portfolios. These portfolios, created by eToro analysts, give you exposure to a wide range of commodities using a single portfolio. Most require a minimum investment of $500, making them accessible to a wide range of traders.
eToro also stands out from the competition with its copy trading service. You can copy up to 100 traders simultaneously, as well as test this service in demo mode. The minimum amount to invest in a trader is $200, which can be a financial obstacle for some investors, while the maximum limit is $2,000,000.
Regarding staking, you can stake Cardano, Solana, Ethereum, Near Protocol, Polygon, Tron, Polkadot, and Cosmos. However, the staking service isn’t available in Germany and the US. Moreover, US traders can open and close their crypto positions only in BTC, BCH, and ETH. Another downside of using eToro includes the lack of crypto-crypto trading pairs.

About eToro
eToro launched in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 2007 as a broker for contracts for difference (CFDs) for forex and commodities. It added stocks, ETFs, and Bitcoin to its list of assets in 2013, then expanded into the US in 2017 as a cryptocurrency-only broker. In 2022, eToro opened up stock, ETF, and options trading for US customers.

eToro added its signature copy trading feature in 2010. This was highly innovative at the time and remains one of the biggest draws to eToro. Copy trading has since been mimicked by several other brokerage firms in the US and abroad.
Today, eToro has more than 25 million users across more than 40 countries, including more than 2 million users in the US. It’s available in all U.S. states, except American Samoa and Guam. However, crypto trading is not available in New York, Nevada, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands.
eToro now supports deposits, withdrawals, and trading in EUR, alongside GBP and USD, making it a cost-efficient choice for European traders. By using the currency that matches your bank’s, you can avoid unnecessary conversion fees
What is eToro Good For?
eToro is a competitive brokerage for stock, ETF, options, and crypto trading in the US. It offers 0% commission trades on stocks, ETFs, and options, and a low 1% fee on cryptocurrency trades. eToro also offers extended hours trading, which makes this platform suitable for active traders, especially those dealing with global markets.
eToro also stands out for its social trading tools, including copy trading. It’s worth noting that the platform offers a 4.3% interest on unused capital for all users. In addition to that, you can make deposits and withdrawals in EUR, and choose the currency of the asset you’re trading in (EUR, GBP, or USD) to avoid conversion fees.
Let’s take a closer look at the areas in which eToro excels compared to the competition:
Commission-free Stock and ETF Trading
eToro offers 0% commission trades on over 6,000 stocks and 682 ETFs. The company provides nearly all stocks on the NYSE and NASDAQ exchanges, along with a wide range of popular American Depository Receipts (ADRs). eToro doesn’t support trading on OTC stocks or penny stocks. There are also new filters available to sort through assets (e.g., UCITS, dividend yield, stock exchange, price changes).
Commission-free Options Trading
Options trading on eToro is also commission-free for hundreds of US stocks. Options trades can have up to 2 legs, enabling a wide range of hedging strategies. An options builder helps you analyze the risk and reward of each options trade.
Please note that there’s no withdrawal fee for GBP and EUR accounts. However, if you use USD, you’ll have to pay a fixed $5 fee.
Cryptocurrency Trading
Cryptocurrency trading is a highlight of using eToro. You gain access to 125 cryptocurrencies at a fixed trading fee of 1% for each buy and sell transaction. This low fixed fee makes eToro one of the best crypto exchanges in the US for buying crypto with a debit card.
However, it’s important to note that US investors can only trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin Cash on eToro.

You can withdraw crypto you purchase at eToro to an external crypto wallet for a fee. eToro even offers its own free mobile crypto wallet called eToro Money Wallet. However, you can’t transfer crypto back from an external wallet to your eToro account.
Social trading is another major draw to eToro and one of its most unique features. On this platform, you can share your trades, follow other traders, and comment on trades. You can also share your thoughts on the market in a feed that feels similar to Twitter (now X).
Another helpful aspect of social trading on eToro is that you can monitor sentiment on any asset. For example, you can see what percentage of eToro users are buying a stock versus selling it. This can help you decide how to trade.
The platform also offers AI-driven features to allow users to ask about top investors, popular stocks, daily movers, and other trending topics.

eToro offers copy trading, which lets you mimic the positions of another trader or investor with just a click. This is great for actively trading without a lot of work or for quickly building a portfolio in a new asset class, such as cryptocurrency. Investors can also sign up for eToro’s Popular Investor Program, which pays you to allow other users on the platform to copy your trades.
Earning on Uninvested Cash
Traders who qualify for an options account at eToro can earn up to 4.9% APY on uninvested cash. That’s significantly higher than the average US savings rate of 0.41% APY.
Customer Support
eToro offers 24/7 customer support by live chat and email. We found that the support agents were responsive and helpful when we got in touch. eToro reviews from current customers praise the broker’s customer service team as well.
In addition, eToro has a very detailed online help center. There are FAQs covering almost every aspect of trading and the eToro platform, so this is a great place to start if you have questions. There is also newly available educational content, including free trading courses for both beginners and advanced users
Charting Tools
eToro offers basic candlestick charts to quickly give you an idea of an asset’s price action. For more in-depth analysis, eToro offers access to ProCharts, an advanced charting software with tons of built-in indicators and customization features.
It’s worth mentioning here that eToro now integrates TradingView charts, offering professional-grade analysis capabilities.

Where Could eToro Improve?
While we enjoyed most aspects of the trading experience on eToro, there are some areas where the platform could be improved.
eToro’s fees are generally lower than those of competitors, but there are some hidden fees to watch out for. For example, you’ll pay $5 to withdraw cash from the platform (there’s no withdrawal fee for GBP and EUR accounts). You’ll also pay a 2% fee to transfer crypto from your eToro account to an external wallet.
Crypto-Crypto Swaps
eToro doesn’t offer any crypto-crypto trading pairs. If you want to swap one crypto for another, you’ll first need to convert it to USD and then purchase the new token. This results in additional trading fees and settlement periods. The conversion fee on eToro ranges between 1.5% and 3.0%, based on the currency and/or payment method. However, if you initiate a recurring investment plan and keep it active, you’ll pay a 0.75% conversion fee.
Stock Analysis
eToro offers only limited financial information about stocks, such as their market cap, revenue, and price-to-earnings ratio. The platform doesn’t provide access to balance sheets or additional financial metrics that many investors use when evaluating companies..
Cryptocurrencies Available on eToro
eToro supports 125 cryptocurrencies, from well-known crypto behemoths, like BTC, ETH, and SOL, to some of the best meme coins, like DOGE, SHIB, PEPE, and BONK. We were impressed with its dynamic dashboard that allowed us to monitor the performance of our tokens in real-time, and use 100+ indicators and 50+ drawing tools.
eToro recently added new tools, such as portfolio breakdown, risk insights, expected dividends, and portfolio comparison, to further facilitate its trading process.
On the downside, US traders can use only three coins to open and close their positions – Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). This results from a settlement that eToro made with the SEC on Sept. 12, 2024.
With that in mind, eToro is available in over 40 countries, such as Australia, Belgium, Chile, Denmark, and France. Check out its official website to view the full list.
Copy Trading on eToro
Copy trading is a standout eToro feature that involves automatically mimicking the positions of another trader. If they buy or sell an asset, a proportional amount of that asset will be bought or sold in your trading account.

Anyone can copy trade on eToro. You must commit a minimum of $200 to copy a trader and you can copy up to 100 different traders at a time. eToro offers detailed statistics about each trader, including a list of their recent trades and a chart of their overall profitability, so you can decide who to copy.
There are no fees for copy trading, but all normal eToro trading fees apply.
Smart Portfolios
eToro’s Smart Portfolios are long-term investment portfolios created by eToro analysts that give you exposure to commodities using a single portfolio. You can choose between three types of Smart Portfolios: top trader portfolios, thematic market portfolios, and partner portfolios. eToro offers more than 65 smart portfolios tailored for different strategies. For example, thematic market portfolios include gaming companies such as Sony and Nvidia, as well as fashion companies like Nike and Crocs.
The minimum investment amount stands at $500 for the thematic market portfolio and the partner portfolio, while for the top trader portfolios, you’ll have to invest a minimum of $5,000. Moreover, you’ll be able to close your Smart Portfolios for zero fees.
eToro CryptoPortfolio
eToro’s CryptoPortfolio is a Smart Portfolio that provides diversified exposure to the largest crypto assets based on their market cap. Once you enter the eToro CryptoPortfolio dashboard, you’ll see four tabs: overview, stats, portfolio, and chart.
The first tab will give you an overview of your portfolio’s performance. The second tab contains charts showing your monthly and annual returns, average monthly risk scores, and asset allocation. When you click on the Portfolio tab, you’ll see a detailed breakdown of your investments, while the Chart tab will let you check your portfolio’s historical performance.
eToro Crypto Wallet

eToro has a native wallet called eToro Money. It’s compatible with Android and iOS devices, and you can download it from the Google Play and App Store. The wallet supports 39 cryptocurrencies, such as BTC, ETH, and XRP, and you can connect it directly to your account to make transactions.
After testing the wallet, we noticed that it comes with certain limitations. Namely, you can only transfer seven coins from the eToro trading account to the eToro wallet: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Stellar, Tron, and Ripple. The transfers also come with a 2% transaction fee. Moreover, you won’t be able to use the wallet to send funds to your eToro account.
The wallet app is user-friendly; however, it can also be buggy at times. On a positive note, you can convert cryptocurrencies directly within the wallet.
eToro Deposit and Payment Methods
You can buy crypto on eToro using the following payment methods:
- eToro Money: Supports GBP and EUR
- Credit/Debit Cards: Visa and Mastercard

eToro doesn’t charge deposit fees. However, when you open a private account for the first time, you’ll have to make a minimum deposit that varies between $10 and $10,000, depending on your country. After that, the minimum deposit requirement is $50. For corporate accounts, the minimum deposit stands at $10,000 (Australia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, United Kingdom), $25,000 (Italy), and $50,000 (all other eligible countries).
When it comes to withdrawals, if you use USD, you’ll have to pay a fixed $5 fee, while the minimum withdrawal requirement stands at $30.
