Ubisoft is teaming up with Arbitrum and Sequence to launch a new Web3 game based on the Netflix series Captain Laserhawk.

According to an official announcement, the game titled Captain Laserhawk: the G.A.M.E. will expand the universe of the Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix series, featuring characters from popular franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Rayman.

Captain Laserhawk: the G.A.M.E. to Build on Arbitrum

The announcement stated that Arbitrum will provide the essential blockchain infrastructure, ensuring the game can support a large and active community.

Sequence will contribute blockchain tools to integrate web3 features into the game. These tools are designed to enhance player interaction and ensure a smooth and engaging user experience.

In addition, Ubisoft, leveraging its expertise in game development, will oversee the creation of the title. By incorporating blockchain elements, Ubisoft plans to give players more influence over the game’s narrative and development, promoting a more community-driven experience.

“With Arbitrum’s supercharged blockchain infrastructure and Sequence’s full web3 stack as the foundation, Captain Laserhawk: the G.A.M.E. is poised to be a groundbreaking player-driven project,” said Ubisoft Labs VP Nicolas Pouard.

“Blockchain features on Arbitrum empower us to give the community a real voice in shaping the story, gameplay, and even side experiences,” added Pouard. “This fosters transparency and shared creation, paving the way for a truly collaborative future for Captain Laserhawk.”

Peter Kieltyka, CEO of Sequence, highlighted that the platform’s web3 tools would facilitate smooth player experiences and open up numerous creative gameplay and world-building possibilities.

Ubisoft Explores Blockchain and Web3 Applications

As a video game developer, Ubisoft was one of the first to experiment with Web3 projects. In April, the company released card collectibles featuring the gaming franchise Watch Dogs, along with the Ethereum non-fungible token (NFT) card game Cross The Ages.

In November 2023, the creator of Assassin’s Creed announced that it would mint free Ethereum NFTs for its game Champions Tactics, “The Warlords PFP Collection.”
