TON Wallet in Telegram to Launch Major Updates Adding Self-Custodial Option

At The Gateway event in Dubai today, Andrew Rogozov, CEO of The Open Platform (TOP) announced there will be new updates to its Telegram-integrated crypo Wallet, with numerous features improving user accessibility.

Currently, there are over 100 million Telegram users—roughly 10% of the app’s total user base—have signed up for TON Space, marking a major milestone for the platform, said the team in an announcement.

TON Space to Integrate Self-Custodial Options

The updates aim to integrate Wallet in Telegram’s custodial and self-custodial options, Wallet and TON Space, into a single interface. The move is designed to provide users with a simplified experience, allowing them to navigate between custodial and self-custodial storage options.

For developers and users, the wallet update aims to improve access to the TON network’s features. Previously in beta, TON Space is now set to become a permanent, full-featured option.

The TOP team went on to explain that the integrations will include a range of decentralized applications (dApps), decentralized exchanges (DEX), staking aggregation services, and tools for NFT and Jetton giveaways.

These options will give TON Space users access to competitive transaction rates and a broader suite of decentralized services, making the platform a more appealing choice for a wider audience.

Rogozov highlighted this transformation on stage, stating, “TON Space is transitioning from a crypto asset storage solution to an ecosystem in and of itself.”

“We want TON Space to become a gateway for the entire TON ecosystem, empowering Telegram’s 950 million users to seamlessly access dApps built on TON,” said Rogozov in a statement.

Most recently, the TON Foundation announced a partnership with HashKey to support the “open network” and “increase access” to fiat on and off-ramps for Telegram wallet users in the Asia-Pacific Region.

The Gateway Event Dubai

The Gateway event is held on November 1-2 at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai. Attendees are greeted by the warm November weather with clear skies. Outside the venue is a luxury car with the TON logo. The team said Pavel Durov the CEO of Telegram will not be attending the event this year.
