Phantom, the leading wallet for Solana users, is currently experiencing downtime. This is impacting users attempting to claim rewards from the highly anticipated GRASS airdrop.

The issue, which has been ongoing for over an hour, has led to some users seeing inaccurate account balances, sparking concerns in the Solana community.

Phantom reassured users, noting that while balances may not display correctly, funds are safe, and the wallet’s browser extension and mobile app remain accessible.

Solana’s Phantom Wallet Faces Downtime Amid Major GRASS Airdrop

The wallet provider confirmed a “major issue” on its status page, which has left users seeing inaccurate account balances. Despite the setback, Phantom reassured users that the browser extension and mobile app are still functioning, and “your funds are safe,” they noted.

The issue, which has been ongoing for over an hour, affects users attempting to claim rewards from the GRASS token airdrop, one of Solana’s largest community events.

The GRASS airdrop, a major community event, distributes 10% of its total token supply to eligible participants. GRASS, a Solana-based platform, incentivizes users to share unused internet bandwidth, with the airdrop marking Solana’s largest token distribution regarding user engagement.

The platform’s token distribution was listed on several top-tier crypto exchanges, including Bybit, Bitget, KuCoin, and Crypto.com.

The influx of users attempting to claim and trade GRASS tokens has caused considerable strain, leaving many unable to access their tokens.

Reports from SolanaFloor suggest this is the largest airdrop in Solana’s history, with approximately 2 million users seeking to trade GRASS tokens in the last hours.

To address user concerns, Phantom took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), advising users to “ignore simulation errors” and try using decentralized apps (dApps) if they urgently need to complete transactions.

Phantom acknowledged the inconvenience and thanked users for their patience while working on a resolution.

However, the company has yet to disclose further specifics on the cause of this downtime.

Solana Network Stays Resilient Amid Phantom Wallet Issues

Despite ongoing technical issues with Phantom Wallet, the Solana network has maintained full uptime, confirming that the problem is isolated to Phantom’s platform.

According to a recent update from SolanaFloor, this downtime impacts Phantom’s operations rather than Solana’s core infrastructure.

This incident is the latest in a series of challenges faced by Phantom this year. On February 3, the wallet reported “delays with how token balances are being updated,” on August 15, a “temporary issue” affected users’ ability to view account balances.

Days later, the Phantom website reported temporary issues. Phantom quickly resolved both incidents.

Despite these wallet difficulties, Solana has displayed robust activity, surpassing Ethereum in daily network fee generation.

As of October 28, DefiLlama reported that Solana’s network fees topped $2.54 million, exceeding Ethereum’s $2.07 million.

This fee surge correlates with increased trading on Solana’s leading decentralized exchange, Raydium, which generated $3.41 million in fees in the last 24 hours alone.
