Ledger Live, Ledger’s crypto app, has announced an on-ramp integration with Venmo as a payment method through MoonPay, a cryptocurrency infrastructure firm.

Thanks to this integration, Venmo, a popular social payment app owned by Paypal, is now accessible directly within Ledger Live.

Specifically, Ledger users will be able to buy Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and PayPal’s stablecoin, PayPal USD (PYUSD), through their Venmo accounts if they’re linked.

This new feature is available for Ledger Live and Venmo users residing in the United States, with the exception of New York and Texas.

Cryptocurrency acquired through the app will be sent to the user’s Ledger hardware wallet, following the standard procedure for other assets within Ledger Live.

For users who have previously bought crypto on Venmo and have it secured in another wallet, they can move the funds to their Ledger wallet address through the usual transfer process.

Expanding Access to Cryptocurrencies

This latest integration aligns with Ledger’s plans to provide users with user-friendly options for purchasing cryptocurrencies. By incorporating Venmo, Ledger aims to attract a broader audience and make crypto ownership more accessible to a wider range of individuals.

Venmo joins a growing list of payment methods supported by Ledger Live.

In September, Ledger expanded its cryptocurrency purchase options within its app through a partnership with Uphold’s Topper, a fiat-to-crypto on-ramp financial platform.

In February, Ledger partnered with Coinbase to streamline crypto purchases. By integrating Coinbase Pay, Ledger Live users are able to purchase crypto assets and transfer them directly from the exchange to their self-custodial wallets.

In August 2023, Ledger integrated Paypal on its Ledger Live app, enabling users to purchase BTC, ETH, BCH and LTC with their PayPal accounts.

In October this year, Ledger Live also partnered with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol THORChain to launch native cross-chain swaps on its platform. This integration allows users to swap assets across blockchains from within the Ledger Live app.
