Yesterday, Huobi said it will launch token sale of NODE, the native token of Whole Network, the developer of the Acute
Angle smartphone, on their initial exchange offering platform Huobi Prime on September 11. Moreover, the exchange said that the device will be available to purchase by paying in HT also. Additionally, Huobi confirmed that they have already invested into the project via Huobi Capital, their venture capital arm.
“As the industry develops and as innovations like 5G become increasingly integrated into our telecommunications systems, we believe more and more crypto communities will want to trade and transact from mobile devices. Given this, the need for devices optimized for blockchain seems clear. This move is our first step to meet those user’s needs,” Livio Weng, CEO of Huobi Global, was quoted as saying in the press release.
Acute Angle is currently available in China, while Whole Network plans to launch the device across Southeast Asia by the end of Q4, 2019. European and American customers might be able to purchase the smartphone afterwards.
The Acute Angle phone will cost USD 515, and lands on the cheaper end of the blockchain smartphones. It will include all the necessary crypto-related features, including a built-in wallet app and an optional plug-in cold wallet, various crypto-related trading and news apps, trade notifications, and dapp (decentralized app) support, according to the announcement. The smartphone also incorporates an “mining/task reward feature that airdrops NODE to users simply for using and interacting with the crypto community with their Acute Angle phone.”
Competing devices, like the Finney phone by Sirin Labs or Exodus 1 by HTC, cost respectively USD 899 and USD 699.
