Solana Accelerate to open Consensus Hong Kong in February
CoinDesk and the Solana Foundation said the developer event will kick off Consensus Hong Kong on Feb. 11, setting the tone for a week focused on builders, capital, and policymakers.

What to know:
- Solana's Accelerate program will be a one-day event at Consensus Hong Kong in February 2026, focusing on collaboration between developers and institutions.
- CoinDesk and the Solana Foundation announced that Solana Accelerate will take place on Feb. 11 as part of the Consensus Hong Kong conference.
- Consensus Hong Kong aims to connect builders, investors, and regulators, with events like PitchFest and the Consensus EasyA Hackathon.
Solana’s developer-focused Accelerate program will run as a one-day event inside Consensus Hong Kong in February 2026, formalizing a collaboration that reinforces the conference’s push to bring builders and institutions into the same room.
CoinDesk said Thursday it is working with the Solana Foundation to host Solana Accelerate on Feb. 11 as part of Consensus Hong Kong, which takes place Feb. 10 to 12. The Accelerate program has already been promoted as part of the broader Consensus agenda, but the announcement cements its role as a dedicated forum for developers and founders alongside investors, regulators, and policymakers.
Consensus Hong Kong has positioned itself as an institutional-scale gathering for digital asset markets in Asia, with programming that spans regulatory roundtables, capital strategy sessions, and technical deep dives. Activations such as PitchFest and the Consensus EasyA Hackathon are designed to connect builders with capital, while tracks focused on stablecoins and tokenization reflect the industry’s growing engagement with regulated financial use cases.
“We are seeing distinct yet highly complementary audiences converge in Hong Kong for Consensus 2026,” Michael Lau, chairman of Consensus, said in a statement, describing the addition of Solana Accelerate as a way to bridge developers and decision makers shaping crypto’s adoption.
“The energy and innovation of Solana’s developer and founder community will perfectly complement the Consensus audience, bridging the gap between those building the technology and those shaping its global adoption.”
For the Solana Foundation, anchoring Accelerate within Consensus Hong Kong underscores a broader effort to engage institutions and policymakers as blockchain infrastructure matures beyond purely native crypto markets.
“Hong Kong has a long history of turning new financial frontiers into functioning markets,” said Ellie Platis, head of events at the Solana Foundation.
With Solana Accelerate embedded in the schedule, Consensus Hong Kong 2026 is signaling a deliberate shift toward convening builders, capital, and regulators under one big tent.

KuCoin Hits Record Market Share as 2025 Volumes Outpace Crypto Market

KuCoin captured a record share of centralised exchange volume in 2025, with more than $1.25tn traded as its volumes grew faster than the wider crypto market.
What to know:
- KuCoin recorded over $1.25 trillion in total trading volume in 2025, equivalent to an average of roughly $114 billion per month, marking its strongest year on record.
- This performance translated into an all-time high share of centralised exchange volume, as KuCoin’s activity expanded faster than aggregate CEX volumes, which slowed during periods of lower market volatility.
- Spot and derivatives volumes were evenly split, each exceeding $500 billion for the year, signalling broad-based usage rather than reliance on a single product line.
- Altcoins accounted for the majority of trading activity, reinforcing KuCoin’s role as a primary liquidity venue beyond BTC and ETH at a time when majors saw more muted turnover.
- Even as overall crypto volumes softened mid-year, KuCoin maintained elevated baseline activity, indicating structurally higher user engagement rather than short-lived volume spikes.

Here's what bitcoin bulls are saying as price remains stuck during global rally

It's about a lot more than "zooming out." Supply overhangs and investor "muscle memory" regarding gold help explain bitcoin's poor absolute and relative performance.
What to know:
- Bitcoin has failed so far to act as an inflation hedge or safe-haven asset, lagging badly behind gold, which has surged amid high inflation, wars, and interest rate uncertainty.
- Crypto advocates argue that bitcoin’s weakness reflects a temporary supply overhang, investor “muscle memory” favoring familiar precious metals and its correlation with risk assets, rather than a collapse in long-term demand.
- Many bitcoin proponents still see BTC as a superior long-term store of value and “digital gold,” predicting that, once traditional hard assets are overbought, capital will rotate into bitcoin, allowing it to “catch up” to gold.
