Web3 Community NounsDAO Is Creating an NFT Comic Book Series
The comic book series will build a narrative around the Nouns NFTs, further expanding the project's intellectual property.

Web3 community NounsDAO is building out the narrative of its Nouns non-fungible token (NFT) collection, creating a comic book series with book publisher Titan Comics and NFT community ComicsDAO.
Titled “Nouns: Nountown,” the comics will feature a storyline about the tokens within the Nouns ecosystem. The series will be authored by David Leach, senior editor at Titan, and illustrated by Danny Schlitz, who has previously worked with brands such as Disney, Marvel, Netflix and Warner Brothers.
The comic books, which will be minted as NFTs in April, will be securely vaulted by Web3 security provider 4K Protocol. Post-mint, buyers can redeem their digital tokens for a physical copy or purchase the physical book in stores.
Adam Fortier, comic industry veteran and founder of ComicsDAO, told CoinDesk that he’s enthusiastic about Web3 technologies bringing a new life to classic categories of content.
“If there was any space that embodied the essence of NFT in the physical world, it would be comic books,” said Fortier. “They're totally interested in different stories and willing to try something out, but you also have the collectible aspect.”
Additionally, the project hopes to expand the Nouns intellectual property (IP), which operates under a CC0 copyright classification. Anonymous co-founder of Nouns 4156 told CoinDesk that releasing a digital and physical comic book will inspire community members to seek new ways to extend the brand’s creativity.
“The intent was always to try to build something that was infinitely extensible, to try to build what could hopefully become the world's largest open-source brand,” said 4156. “This specific collaboration is one more step in that direction.”
Nouns, which mints Ethereum-based generative NFTs every day to raise money for its decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), has been putting its funds into other Web3 activations over the past few months. In December, Nouns announced a partnership with the Australian Open to create an NFT collection inspired by the tennis tournament. The DAO has also approved funding for a float in the 2023 Rose Parade and a Budweiser Super Bowl commercial.

Pudgy Penguins: A New Blueprint for Tokenized Culture

Pudgy Penguins is building a multi-vertical consumer IP platform — combining phygital products, games, NFTs and PENGU to monetize culture at scale.
What to know:
Pudgy Penguins is emerging as one of the strongest NFT-native brands of this cycle, shifting from speculative “digital luxury goods” into a multi-vertical consumer IP platform. Its strategy is to acquire users through mainstream channels first; toys, retail partnerships and viral media, then onboard them into Web3 through games, NFTs and the PENGU token.
The ecosystem now spans phygital products (> $13M retail sales and >1M units sold), games and experiences (Pudgy Party surpassed 500k downloads in two weeks), and a widely distributed token (airdropped to 6M+ wallets). While the market is currently pricing Pudgy at a premium relative to traditional IP peers, sustained success depends on execution across retail expansion, gaming adoption and deeper token utility.

Tristan Thompson launches prediction market turning NBA stats into stock

NBA veteran Tristan Thompson launched basketball.fun, a new prediction market platform that turns top athletes into tradable assets.
What to know:
How it works: The platform differentiates itself from standard betting by treating the NBA's top 100 players as individual financial assets to collect.
- Users can buy and open "packs" of players, mimicking the nostalgic experience of buying physical trading cards.
- Player "share prices" luctuate based on real-time performance, rising if a player records a triple-double or dropping if they struggle after an injury.
- Users can trade these player shares on a secondary marketplace.
