The GMX ecosystem is based on two tokens: GLP and GMX. GLP serves to supply liquidity and its price reflects the value of all GMX assets. GMX, on the other hand, is the utility and governance token of the platform.

Users can add liquidity by minting GLP, and in return, they may receive a portion of all fees generated on the corresponding blockchain. This system aims to provide a potential avenue for liquidity providers, as they may receive compensation when traders incur losses. Furthermore, the GLP pool acts as a counterparty for traders, creating a dynamic and engaging trading environment. GMX, as the utility and governance token, allows holders to participate in the decision-making process of the platform, fostering a community-driven approach to development.

GMX was launched in September 2021 as Gambit Exchange. The founding team remains anonymous, with the lead developer known as @xdev_10. GMX operates on the Arbitrum and Avalanche blockchains, both of which offer unique security features.
