On Sept. 7, Coinbase Pro will launch cryptocurrency trading support for its U.K.-based customers.<\/p>\n<h2>Crypto Trading Pairs for GBP Introduced<\/h2>\n<p>Coinbase Pro will introduce <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum (ETH)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum-classic\/\">Ethereum Classic (ETC)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/litecoin\/\">Litecoin (LTC)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin-cash\/\">Bitcoin Cash (BCH)<\/a> trading support using British pounds (GBP), according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.coinbase.com\/coinbase-pro-announces-support-for-trading-bitcoin-ethereum-and-other-cryptocurrencies-using-2a8b82c4d19b\">blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trading pairs for <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin (BTC)<\/a> and GBP already exist on the platform, and through the Faster Payments Scheme, Coinbase Pro has made U.K.-domestic bank transfers more efficient and affordable for traders.<\/p>\n<p>Coinbase Pro is currently the only digital assets trading platform to support U.K. Faster Payments.<\/p>\n<p>The U.K. trading support launch will take place in three stages\u2013post-only, limit-only and full trading\u2013and will be subject to suspension if the new order books don't meet assessment standards.<\/p>\n<p>Coinbase has advised users to follow its <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coinbasepro\">Twitter page<\/a> for live updates during the launch.<\/p>\n<h2>Coinbase Expands Operations With New Tech<\/h2>\n<p>Earlier this month, Coinbase acquired digital identity startup\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-acquires-digital-identity-startup-distributed-systems\/\">Distributed Systems<\/a>\u00a0and filed a patent for a direct bitcoin payments system.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 2015, Distributed Systems is a decentralized identity solutions\u00a0company that has developed an identity standard for decentralized applications (dApps), called the Clear Protocol.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_76314\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-76314\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-76314\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/coinbase-digital-identity-social-300x158.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-76314\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Related:\u00a0<a title=\"Coinbase Acquires Digital Identity Startup Distributed Systems\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-acquires-digital-identity-startup-distributed-systems\/\">Coinbase Acquires Digital Identity Startup Distributed Systems<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Under the terms of the agreement, Distributed System\u2019s five-person team will merge with Coinbase and begin\u00a0working on the company\u2019s new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-rebrands-toshi-as-coinbase-wallet\/\">Coinbase\u00a0<span class=\"glossaryTerm\">Wallet<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and \u201cLogin with Coinbase\u201d product, which will allow\u00a0<span class=\"glossaryTerm\">dApp<\/span>\u00a0developers to easily integrate identity platforms for users to register and connect their crypto wallets.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 14, Coinbase filed a <a href=\"http:\/\/patft.uspto.gov\/netacgi\/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.htm&r=1&p=1&f=G&l=50&d=PTXT&S1=10,050,779.PN.&OS=pn\/10,050,779&RS=PN\/10,050,779\">patent<\/a>\u00a0application for a direct bitcoin payments system\u00a0to solve the security issues surrounding direct bitcoin\u00a0<span class=\"glossaryTerm\">wallet<\/span>\u00a0payments.<\/p>\n<p>The patent outlines the security issue as:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cExisting systems do not provide a solution for maintaining security over private keys while still allowing the users to checkout on a merchant page and making payments using their wallets.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Coinbase plans to employ a \u201ckey ceremony\u201d system to integrate key shares with operational master keys for encrypted, sovereign merchant transactions.<\/p>\n<p>The patent also describes enterprise applications via an API key that would give different websites the ability to launch a customized version of the direct bitcoin payments portal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With public adoption on the rise, cryptocurrency trading is expanding across the globe.
