At the time, the bourse published a working paper for replacing its currently used security clearing system.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_77185\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-77185\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-77185\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/cointree-gobill-australians-social-300x158.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-77185\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Related:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cointree-gobbill-partnership-enables-australians-to-pay-bills-with-cryptocurrency\/\">Cointree Gobbill Partnership Enables Australians to Pay Bills With Cryptocurrency<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Based on public feedback and authoritative guidance, the company now expects a DLT-powered system to become operational in 2021, instead of its initial 2020 aim. The release pegs the date at March or April and contains connotations from over 41 parties observing the development, such as clearinghouses and payment providers.<\/p>\n<p>A six-month testing period would occur industry-wide after launch, followed by another six-month period of user development and accessibility tests, prior to the DLT-based clearance system\u2019s official migration.<\/p>\n<p>The primary reason for the postponement, at least for public information, was due to testers' concerns about the technology\u2019s \u201crange of scope\u201d and the overall possibility of making the switch within a short time, given \u201cthe significance of the technology change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Respondents also voiced the ASX was over-ambitious in its plans to include a wide array of features for the DLT system in \u201cshort a timeframe,&#8221; noting:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It was argued that this would result in increased complexity and risk across project phases and in the implementation timeframe.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Features Likely Introduced Later<\/h2>\n<p>Despite the pushback, seven additional features planned by the ASX are likely to be postponed to a later date\u2013including foreign currency settlement, current account balance information and a slew of other financial services.<\/p>\n<p>The bourse also added that all features may not be available to users after launch, citing regulatory hurdles and potential investor risk.
