Everyone here is really excited about being an SR, and we really look forward to working with the other SRs to ensure the future of a decentralized internet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In mid-June, Tron Foundation CEO Justin Sun acquired BitTorrent for $140 million in an effort to achieve\u00a0\u201cthe world\u2019s largest decentralized ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BitTorrent is the owner and operator of\u00a0popular torrent client\u00a0\u00b5Torrent, which reportedly has more than 100 million active users and runs up to 40 percent of the world\u2019s internet traffic on a daily basis, according to its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bittorrent.com\/company\/about\">website<\/a>. \u00b5Torrent has also become an SR on the Tron network.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69633\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69633\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-69633\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/tronsfounder-blockchain-election-social-300x158.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69633\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Related:\u00a0<a title=\"Tron\u2019s Founder Wins His Own Blockchain\u2019s Election in Under A Day\" href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/trons-founder-wins-his-own-blockchains-election-in-under-a-day\/\">Tron\u2019s Founder Wins His Own Blockchain\u2019s Election in Under A Day<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A Tron SR acts as a key\u00a0<span class=\"glossaryTerm\" data-title=\"Node\" data-content=\"A point of conversion in the network that acts as a redistribution or end point.\" data-url=\"\/glossary\/node\">node<\/span>\u00a0on the Tron protocol and is capable of validating transactions, creating new blocks and competing for block rewards.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Sun announced his campaign to run for one of 27 SR positions on the Tron network and was <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/trons-founder-wins-his-own-blockchains-election-in-under-a-day\/\">elected<\/a> the following day, garnering 120 million votes by Tron token holders in under 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>At press time, there are only 18 elected SRs active on the network, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/tronscan.org\/#\/votes\">Tronscan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Tron Airdrops 9 Million TRX, Lists on BitBox Exchange<\/h2>\n<p>On Aug. 14, Tron (TRX) started trading on Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange Bitbox. To promote the new listing, Tron announced a 9,000,000 TRX airdrop available to users until Aug. 22.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">TRON Airdrop happening on BITBOX now.
