While MOUs are not legally enforceable documents, they typically expedite the process of moving towards a formal agreement.<\/p>\n<h2>BTCC: Return to China?<\/h2>\n<p>BTCC appears to be eyeing a return to its roots. Ousted from China in 2017\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/crypto-behind-great-wall\/\">nation-wide crackdown<\/a> on ICOs and exchanges, the company was bought out by a Hong Kong blockchain investment fund \u2014 the January 2018 began to \u201caggressively\u201d grow BTCC\u2019s pool operation. BTCC Co-Founder and CEO Bobby Lee announced:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We\u2019re excited to announce that BTCC has been acquired by a blockchain investment fund. The acquisition allows us to aggressively grow our pool (<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Lw6nIza0Bu\">https:\/\/t.co\/Lw6nIza0Bu<\/a> ), wallet (<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/60l2aJ0sbd\">https:\/\/t.co\/60l2aJ0sbd<\/a> ) and exchange (<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NOskquCl6i\">https:\/\/t.co\/NOskquCl6i<\/a> ) businesses: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VQpyX4BsrT\">https:\/\/t.co\/VQpyX4BsrT<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mPJ57742JR\">pic.twitter.com\/mPJ57742JR<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; BTCC (@YourBTCC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/YourBTCC\/status\/957962061656465408?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 29, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Now courting VC Holdings in the potential sale, BTCC seems to be taken by the financial services company\u2019s healthy Chinese presence. In detailing \u201cReasons for the Proposed Acquisition\u201d, the memorandum hints at BTCC\u2019s intention to resecure its footing in the PRC:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As disclosed in the Company\u2019s 2017 annual report, the Group\u2019s strategy is to strengthen\u00a0the existing core business and tap into new emerging markets with expanded business\u00a0initiatives and explore business opportunities in the PRC.
