Now, charities will see more of the donated money and banks will see less of it.<\/p>\n<p>Bifrost was <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@DETHER\/dether-teams-up-with-consensys-and-makerdao-for-bifrost-project-9b6b6b1788d3\">announced<\/a> on May 29th at the <a href=\"https:\/\/oslofreedomforum.com\/\">Oslo Freedom Forum<\/a> in Norway. It works by using smart contracts on the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> blockchain to enable peer-to-peer value transfer.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, they\u00a0cut out many of the middlemen\u00a0(often several different banks) and create a more direct system for people to donate money to charities.<\/p>\n<p>By eliminating the need for banks, Bifrost can significantly reduce fees, ensuring that those who need the money, receive it. Once a donation is made, MakerDAO and Dether will then deliver the funds to the scheduled recipients.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/makerdao-launches-new-dai-stablecoin-ethereum-blockchain\/\">MakerDAO<\/a> created the DAI, a <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cryptos\/stablecoin\/\">stablecoin<\/a> pegged to the US dollar, removing significant volatility that currently exists with other cryptocurrencies. This helps ensure that the amount of money donated to aid groups is the amount intended recipients receive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/dether\/\">Dether<\/a> is a peer-to-peer system that only requires a mobile phone with internet access, thereby allowing aid groups to work with the local population instead of a centralized bank. This\u00a0application is critical for the two billion unbanked adults across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Robby Greenfield, ConsenSys Social Impact\u2019s global technical lead said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cCollaborative solutions like these \u2026 are paramount to materializing solutions in the social sector.
