Participants wore multimodal headsets while typing, speaking, reading or listening during sessions with a language model.<\/p>\n<p>The company published a few claimed zero-shot examples, excluding aggregate performance metrics, its evaluation protocol or third-party replication. Bashkansky argued that Conduit\u2019s results improve with increasing training hours and described the work as a greenfield alternative to the narrower research she could pursue at OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p>Meta reported in June that the results of its latest Brain2Qwerty\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ai.meta.com\/blog\/brain2qwerty-brain-ai-human-communication\/\">reached 61% average word accuracy<\/a> and 78% for its best participant, with performance improving log-linearly as data increased.<\/p>\n<p>The experiment recorded nine people with magnetoencephalography while they actively typed sentences.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"cs-article-embed\">\n    <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/tether-invests-200-million-to-reach-new-ultimate-goal-of-putting-computers-in-peoples-brain\/\" class=\"cs-article-embed__link\">\n        <div class=\"cs-article-embed__body\">\n            <span class=\"cs-article-embed__related-reading\">Related Reading<\/span>\n            <h3 class=\"cs-article-embed__title\">Tether invests $200 million to reach \u2018ultimate\u2019 goal of putting computers in people's brain<\/h3>\n        <\/div>\n        <span class=\"cs-article-embed__arrow\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n            <i class=\"fa-light fa-arrow-up-right\"><\/i>\n        <\/span>\n    <\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n<h2>Where current systems fall short<\/h2>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-025-65499-0\">Nature Communications study<\/a> spanning 723 participants also found that performance improved with more EEG and MEG data. Yet it studied people reading or listening rather than producing language, and reported 20% top-1 accuracy in a 50-word comparison.<\/p>\n<p>The study's authors said practical non-invasive brain-to-text remained an open challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Conduit\u2019s next evidentiary hurdle is to establish public aggregate performance by linking its 10,000-hour dataset to a portable system that decodes free-form thought.
