Bitcoin<\/h2>\n<p>Although <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/zcash\">Zcash<\/a> is a fork off of the <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\">Bitcoin<\/a> source code, there are several features that distinguish it from its parent coin.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/gemini\/gemini-is-now-the-worlds-first-licensed-zcash-exchange-dfa7da992816\">described<\/a> by Eric Winer, VP of Engineering at Gemini, the Zcash blockchain uses:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;zero-knowledge succinct non-interactive arguments of knowledge (or \u201czero-knowledge proofs\u201d)&#8230; that offers confidentiality for peer-to-peer transactions similar to those afforded to fiat currency transfers.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Unlike Bitcoin, the rising privacy-focused cryptocurrency uses cutting-edge encryptions to prevent prying eyes from tracking the source and destination of flowing transactions.<\/p>\n<p>This solution to the lacking privacy of bitcoin serves to create a more user-friendly digital currency for secure daily transactions.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/fortune.com\/2018\/05\/15\/zcash-bitcoin-gemini\/\">Forbes<\/a>, President of Gemini Exchange,\u00a0Cameron Winklevoss summarized the two coins' primary distinctions by stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBitcoin and Zcash are two revolutionary technologies vying for different mantles, Bitcoin being digital gold and Zcash being digital cash.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Gemini Finds Peace with Regulation<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_52982\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-52982\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-52982\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-11-22-at-15.32.38-300x160.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-11-22-at-15.32.38-300x160.png 300w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-11-22-at-15.32.38.png 723w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-52982\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gemini is a digital currency exchange founded by the Winklevoss twins in 2015.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A rigorous and stringent regulatory body, the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) does not easily allow for licensed cryptocurrency trading or the authorization of virtual currency exchanges.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is becoming evident that <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/nyse-parent-company-may-be-launching-a-bitcoin-investment-platform\/\">institutional<\/a> and regulatory sentiment are changing tides.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfs.ny.gov\/about\/press\/pr1805141.htm\">press release<\/a>, NYDFS made clear their effort to embrace &#8220;emerging cryptocurrencies&#8221; when\u00a0DFS Superintendent Maria T. Vullo stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This action continues New York\u2019s longstanding commitment to innovation and leadership in the global marketplace.
