As of press time, LINEA traded at $0.02806.<\/p>\n<p>The selection marks Swift's entry into blockchain technology, following its announcement of a digital asset initiative <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/swift-unveils-global-infrastructure-to-streamline-tokenized-asset-transfers\/\">in September 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement cited plans to test multi-ledger Delivery-versus-Payment and Payment-versus-Payment transactions, targeting the tokenized asset market, which is expected to reach $30 trillion by 2034.<\/p>\n<h2>Network selection rationale<\/h2>\n<p>The source said Swift chose Linea specifically for its transaction confidentiality features, which utilize advanced cryptographic proofs.<\/p>\n<p>The banking consortium required blockchain solutions that maintain data protection and regulatory compliance, while offering greater speed, transparency, and programmability than traditional payment processing methods.<\/p>\n<p>Developed by Consensys, Linea focuses on privacy-preserving transactions through zero-knowledge proofs, addressing banks' need to reconcile the benefits of blockchain with existing regulatory frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>The network's connection to Ethereum provides established infrastructure while layer-2 technology reduces transaction costs.<\/p>\n<p>Swift connects over 11,000 financial institutions globally through its messaging system, processing billions of payment instructions annually.<\/p>\n<h2>Multiple experiments<\/h2>\n<p>The current architecture relies on multiple relays and centralized infrastructure, creating operational dependencies that blockchain technology could streamline.<\/p>\n<p>Swift has progressed through multiple blockchain experiments since announcing its digital asset strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The organization <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/swift-to-begin-trials-for-digital-asset-transactions-across-global-network-in-2025\/\">launched live digital asset trials<\/a> across North America, Europe, and Asia in October 2024 and completed a <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/swifts-tokenized-fund-settlement-pilot-with-ubs-and-chainlink-deemed-a-success\/\">tokenized fund settlement pilot<\/a> with UBS Asset Management and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/chainlink\/\">Chainlink<\/a> in November of the same year.<\/p>\n<p>The Linea pilot builds on Swift's broader blockchain integration efforts, which include participation in the Bank for International Settlements' Project Agora and collaboration with central bank digital currency initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swift has chosen Consensys-developed Linea to pilot its transition from traditional interbank messaging to blockchain-based communications, according to a Sept. 26 report by The Big Whale.
