The US Department of Commerce has begun publishing official economic statistics directly on public blockchains, describing this as a new approach to transparency and data security.<\/p>\n

The pilot program launched<\/a> on Aug. 28 includes nine networks,\u00a0including <\/span>Bitcoin<\/a>,\u00a0Ethereum<\/a>,\u00a0Solana<\/a>,\u00a0TRON<\/a>,\u00a0Stellar<\/a>,\u00a0Avalanche<\/a>,\u00a0Arbitrum One<\/a>,\u00a0Polygon PoS<\/a>, and\u00a0Optimism<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The announcement confirmed,<\/p>\n

“The Department published an official hash of its quarterly GDP data release for 2025\u2014and, in some cases, the topline GDP number.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Notably, other leading blockchain networks like XRP Ledger and\u00a0Cardano<\/a> did not participate in<\/span>\u00a0the initial rollout.<\/p>\n

The authorities pointed out that major US exchanges, including Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken, assisted in making the datasets available.<\/p>\n

The government added that future releases could expand to additional chains, oracles, and market participants as the program matures.<\/p>\n

US GDP grew 3.3%<\/h2>\n

For the first release, the department issued a cryptographic proof of its July 2025 gross domestic product (GDP) update, which showed annualized growth of 3.3%. In some cases, the department also shared the topline GDP number itself.<\/p>\n

The US government said the effort is designed to make federal data immutable and universally accessible, while testing blockchain\u2019s ability to serve as a permanent publishing platform.<\/p>\n

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick<\/a> framed the initiative as both symbolic and practical. He stated:<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s only fitting that the Commerce Department and President Donald Trump, the Crypto-President, publicly release economic statistical data on the blockchain. We are making America\u2019s economic truth immutable and globally accessible like never before, cementing our role as the blockchain capital of the world.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Notably, this comes less than two days after Lutnick revealed that the Donald Trump-led government planned<\/a> to issue economic data on public blockchains.<\/p>\n

Oracle providers to distribute data<\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, the data is simultaneously being distributed through Chainlink<\/a> and Pyth<\/a>, two major oracle providers.<\/p>\n

Chainlink confirmed<\/a> that several indicators compiled by the Bureau of Economic Analysis\u2014including GDP, the PCE Price Index, and real final sales to private domestic purchasers\u2014are now available on-chain for the first time.<\/p>\n

According to the firm, these metrics will be refreshed monthly or quarterly. It added:<\/p>\n

“Bringing US government data onchain unlocks innovative use cases for blockchain markets, such as automated trading strategies, increased composability of tokenized assets, the issuance of new types of digital assets, real-time prediction markets for crowdsourced intelligence, transparent dashboards powered by immutable data, and DeFi protocol risk management based on macroeconomic factors.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Solana-based Pyth added that “the data [would become] instantly accessible to 600+ connected applications across 100+ blockchains.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
