Aave reached multiple all-time highs this week, fueled by the heated crypto market.<\/span><\/p>\n

The money market protocol<\/span>\u00a0reached $3 trillion<\/a><\/strong> in cumulative deposits on Aug. 15, while surpassing<\/span> $29 billion in active loans<\/a><\/strong> on August 13, according to Token Terminal data.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, Aave's total value locked (TVL) climbed to a record high<\/span> above $40 billion<\/a><\/strong> on Aug. 14, based on DefiLlama data.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The achievements come amid DeFi lending emerging as the second-largest category with $75.3 billion in combined TVL.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lending sector shows strong growth<\/strong><\/h2>\n

DeFi lending protocols collectively manage $75.3 billion in total value locked across 540 protocols, making it the second-largest DeFi category behind liquid staking's nearly $81 billion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The lending sector has posted a strong recent performance with 18.7% growth over the past month, outpacing most other DeFi categories. Furthermore, active loans reached roughly $43 billion on August 13, a new record for the sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within this landscape, Aave commands a dominant position with approximately 66.7% market share of the DeFi lending market.\u00a0<\/span>Aave's nearest competitor, Morpho<\/a>, holds just $6.3 billion in deposits. As a result, Aave is nearly six times larger.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The protocol's TVL has grown 25.7% over the past 30 days, with active loans increasing by nearly $8 billion (38%) in the same period.\u00a0<\/span>This growth trajectory positions Aave<\/span> among the top 41 US-chartered commercial banks<\/a><\/strong> by deposit volume, ahead of established institutions like Barclays.<\/span><\/p>\n

Token performance and growth outlook<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The AAVE<\/a> token has surged 138% from its 2025 bottom on April 8. Aave founder Stani Kulechov<\/a> projects the platform could reach $100 billion in net deposits before year-end, which would place it among the world's 35 largest banks on par with Deutsche Bank<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The protocol's expansion has been driven by institutional adoption and strategic partnerships.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nasdaq<\/a>-listed BTCS uses Aave to generate yield on Ethereum<\/a> holdings, while $6.4 billion of Ethena's<\/a> USDe<\/a> stablecoin and related assets are deposited on the platform.<\/span><\/p>\n
