{"id":484919,"date":"2025-06-12T16:59:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-12T15:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=484919"},"modified":"2025-11-18T23:20:50","modified_gmt":"2025-11-18T23:20:50","slug":"circle-expands-usdc-to-ripples-xrp-ledger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/circle-expands-usdc-to-ripples-xrp-ledger\/","title":{"rendered":"Circle expands USDC to Ripple&#8217;s XRP Ledger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/circle\/\">Circle<\/a>, a US-based <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.substack.com\/p\/circle-makes-wall-street-debut-as\">publicly traded crypto firm,<\/a> has expanded the reach of its <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/usd-coin\/\">USDC<\/a>\u00a0stablecoin to the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/xrp-ledger-will-be-compatible-with-ethereum-smart-contracts-via-sidechain-launch-in-2025\/\">XRP Ledger (XRPL),<\/a> adding another blockchain to its growing ecosystem, according to a June 12 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circle.com\/blog\/now-available-usdc-on-the-xrpl\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On-chain <a href=\"https:\/\/livenet.xrpl.org\/token\/5553444300000000000000000000000000000000.rGm7WCVp9gb4jZHWTEtGUr4dd74z2XuWhE\">data<\/a> shows that around $2 million worth of the asset had been minted on the network as of press time.<\/p>\n<p>This expansion follows Circle's recent <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/world-chain-and-circle-join-forces-to-strengthen-identity-driven-finance-with-native-usdc\/\">integration of USDC into World Chain<\/a> through its upgraded Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP V2). With this release, USDC now operates natively across 22 blockchains.<\/p>\n<h2>USDC on XRPL<\/h2>\n<p>According to Circle, USDC's presence on the XRPL mainnet gives developers, businesses, and users seamless access to the asset.<\/p>\n<p>The integration eliminates the need for third-party bridges, streamlining USDC's use on the ledger. Circle Mint and its APIs now support USDC transactions on XRPL, improving access to liquidity and reducing settlement times.<\/p>\n<p>Circle sees a broad range of use cases for USDC on XRPL, including business payments, liquidity provision in DeFi, and settlement for decentralized apps.<\/p>\n<p>USDC is the second-largest US dollar-backed stablecoin, with more than $61 billion in market capitalization, according to <em>CryptoSlate's<\/em> data. Over 73% of this supply is based on <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/solana\/\">Solana<\/a>, two blockchain networks renowned for their stablecoin dominance.<\/p>\n<h2>XRPL's growing stablecoin ecosystem<\/h2>\n<p>Following Circle's move, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/xrp-ledger-sharpens-competitive-edge-with-fresh-stablecoin-additions-of-europ-usdb-and-xsgd\/#:~:text=The%20XRP%20Ledger%20(XRPL)%20added,fast%2Devolving%20global%20stablecoin%20market.\">XRPL now hosts five fiat-backed stablecoins<\/a>, including USDC, XSGD, EUR\u00d8P, RLUSD, and USDB.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/ripple\/\">Ripple<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/ripple.com\/insights\/the-rise-of-global-stablecoins-on-the-xrpl\/\">believes<\/a> that the presence of these stablecoins will drive new institutional interest and unlock fresh use cases for the blockchain network.<\/p>\n<p>According to the firm:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As these stablecoins go live, expect new financial use cases to flourish\u2014from DeFi lending markets and yield-bearing savings products to FX trading, payroll, and cross-border treasury flows.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/xrp\/\">XRP<\/a>, the ledger's native token, remains a key part of the ecosystem by facilitating liquidity, powering fast settlement, and acting as a bridge between different assets on XRPL's decentralized exchange (DEX).<\/p>\n<p>Ripple also noted that XRPL will continue to roll out compliance-ready features aimed at regulated financial markets.
