{"id":479892,"date":"2025-05-14T10:47:33","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T09:47:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=479892"},"modified":"2025-05-14T10:47:33","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T09:47:33","slug":"coinbase-to-launch-wrapped-xrp-ada-doge-and-ltc-on-base-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-to-launch-wrapped-xrp-ada-doge-and-ltc-on-base-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Coinbase to launch wrapped XRP, ADA, DOGE, and LTC on Base network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/coinbase\/\">Coinbase<\/a> is expanding its footprint in the wrapped token space by preparing to release wrapped versions of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/xrp\/\">XRP<\/a>, Cardano (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/cardano\/\">ADA<\/a>), Dogecoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/dogecoin\/\">DOGE<\/a>), and Litecoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/litecoin\/\">LTC<\/a>) on its <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> Layer 2 network, Base.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/coinbaseassets\/status\/1922387735580450838?s=46\">post<\/a> published on May 13 via its Coinbase Assets X account, the exchange confirmed the upcoming availability of cbXRP, cbADA, cbDOGE, and cbLTC tokens on Base.<\/p>\n<p>However, these assets are not live yet, and Coinbase stated that a launch timeline will be revealed later.<\/p>\n<p>Wrapped tokens allow assets from one blockchain to be used on another, improving ecosystem interoperability.<\/p>\n<p>So, Coinbase's move would offer Base users access to these popular digital currencies while providing lower fees, better liquidity, and broader access to DeFi tools.<\/p>\n<p>Base is the largest Ethereum layer-2 network, with a total value secured of more than $15 billion, according to L2Beats <a href=\"https:\/\/l2beat.com\/scaling\/summary\">data<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Coinbase warned users to be cautious of fake claims about these tokens being available. The exchange stated that the only official Base contract addresses for these assets will be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>cbADA: 0xcbADA732173e39521CDBE8bf59a6Dc85A9fc7b8c<\/li>\n<li>cbDOGE: 0xcbD06E5A2B0C65597161de254AA074E489dEb510<\/li>\n<li>cbLTC: 0xcb17C9Db87B595717C857a08468793f5bAb6445F<\/li>\n<li>cbXRP: 0xcb585250f852C6c6bf90434AB21A00f02833a4af<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>cbBTC growth<\/h2>\n<p>Coinbase's expansion into wrapped assets builds on its earlier success with cbBTC, a wrapped <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> version launched on Base last year.<\/p>\n<p>The token was introduced after <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/bitgo\/\">BitGo<\/a>, issuer of the widely used <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/wrapped-bitcoin\/\">WBTC<\/a>, announced changes to its custody model. This prompted Coinbase to offer a separate option for Bitcoin exposure on Base via its cbBTC product.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, cbBTC's adoption has gone parabolic and expanded to other blockchain networks like Solana. This has helped the token's total supply exceed 45,000, equivalent to nearly $4 billion. Most of these tokens were issued on Ethereum and the Base network.<\/p>\n<p>However, despite its growth, cbBTC still trails other competitors in market share.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/dune.com\/yandhii\/wrapped-btc-war\">data<\/a> from Dune Analytics, WBTC currently controls over half the wrapped Bitcoin market with a 52.6% share.
